I'm talking the old, indestructible metal clear-com packs

Does anyone know what lamps they take? A couple of ours have burned out call-lights. I tried the clear-com website but navigation is a nightmare.

Yea those would be the ones. They gotta be from the 70's, they are indestructible.

Oh its in the manual, a 327 lamp. Cool.

they may be indestructable, but they sure can damage a shinbone when they come off of your belt and fall against your leg

Well, ours do stationary duty at tech tables and in the booth.

We also have a stock of lighter PI packs for roving use.

Ok so some one beat me to it. I didnt even realise that the manual was still on the website.

I have a Korean copy of one of those on my desk and it looks like it would do someone a nasty injury if it fell on them from any height

ANY object can cause injury if it falls from height. The solution is not to let it fall.

Agreed

However I was just agreeing with Dramatechs comment.

It is heavy, bent metal construction with sharp corners and edges so I can see how it would be painful to have one hit your shin bone (or even toe) if it came of your belt.

From What's Old Is New Again: Products of the Past :

Some of the early Clear-Com products are still in active use; recently the service department received a King Biscuit KB-100 (pictured and dating from the early 1970s) in for service. Charlie Butten, who co-designed the original circuitry for the Clear-Com partyline intercom, is still with the company, and he repaired the unit.
Also shown are the Clear-Com RS-100 from the earlier 1970s and the popular metallic-finish RS-100A from the later 70s. You'll still see these units in the touring kits of sound and lighting companies. To date, Clear-Com has sold about 300,000 beltpacks of various models since the end of the 1960s.

Nice

I have a KB100 on my desk as well and it still works, and will work with all the new PL stuff as well.

I doubt there are many new intercom products that have a wooden enclosure though.

:)
