ETC & Consoles

The funny thing about rumors is that they can't always be trusted to be entirely accurate...

... so... is there something you are not telling us?

There is plenty we are not telling... yet. ;)

I don't know anything about your rumor, but I've heard rumors from really well placed people in the past that were completely bogus.

Martinty, If your rumor is true I'm not sure what the purpose of a 4th console would be. We've got a low middle and high console in the line already. Where does the 4th go? The options are a straight up mover console, but that makes no sense as it would hurt EOS sales. Plus the marketing department would tell you EOS is a mover console. OR something below Element but that would take out Smartfade. I don't see a need for a 4th console. Unless they took a Strand approach of releasing a console with the same software but a different control surface. In which case we could see something like EOS with 64 playback handles. That sort of makes sense. But still seems completely out of line with the direction they've been taking.

Well that is interesting. Kirk it looks like Anne let the cat out of the bag on your forums about 6 months ago. Must have gotten delayed a bit as there was no sign of any new consoles.

I would like a console that has functionallity of an Element, in a size of a smartfade ML. I have never liked the Smartfade line, btw....

My 2 cents(Sorry for bringing up an old thread..)

My wish list includes an Element with motorized faders . . .
I just found out that our theater is getting an element and have been reading about the dificulty of working with the faders using the different selected channel ranges
Let’ s say that you use faders 2, 17, and 31 to set a look on Bank 1. If you switch to Bank 2, faders 2, 17, and 31 are still up, but they are not controlling anything. Bring those faders down, and continue setting up the look on channels 41-80 using Bank 2. Now switch back to Bank 1 to tweak the look on channels 1-40…but the faders are no longer up! The LEDs on the bump buttons will flash to show which channel levels no longer match the fader positions. To take control of these channels, bring the fader up until it matches the current channel level. Then you can control the channel again. Are you confused yet? Did I mention that the faders have no numbers? I find this slows me down when creating a look, and makes it harder to edit a look “on the fly.” To top it off, the bank selector is a little plastic twist switch, and it’s hard to see which bank it’s pointing at.

To use an exaggerated phrase, that would be like lipstick on a pig...

Not that the Element is a pig, it's just that motorized faders are not a luxury that the fits into the cost-benefit point of the market that the Element is aimed at. How much would you be willing to add to the cost of the Element to get motorized faders?

I know the thread is old but, it wasn't that far down on the list so... I thought this was quite funny.

"While the Expression of your Insightful Vision has gained you wide Acclaim,
my Impression is that you're Obsessing on Emphasizing that the Concept was on
Par with your best Ideas, and while I can Sense Or perhaps Imagine the Source
For this Enthusiasm I can't Express strongly enough that you shouldn't Focus
on this Impulse.
Please don't all of you groan in Unison."

(Yes, it is from the forum martinty posted)
