Control/Dimming Strand 200 plus 12/24 with a LED Bulldog by K9...

We are demoing a Strand 200 plus 12/24 this week as we consider purchasing it. They sent us home with the board and a K9 LED Par64 Bulldog. We are struggling on having them communicate with each other. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone have any pros and cons about the board?

Yes, while I have not used the Strand 200 plus, it's in the same price point as a Smartfade ML, so at least I would demo the Smartfade ML before buying either one. I will say in general I am not a fan of strand consoles because there's no uniformity between the model lines.

Honestly though, it depends what you are controlling them with. Seeing as you are having trouble getting a fairly basic fixture to communicate, that should say something about the user friendlyness of the console.

I assume you've patched the fixture, have dmx plugged in, and all that stuff?

Pros and cons? Again totally depends on what you're doing with it. On paper it looks pretty well equipted for the price point. HOWEVER, on a small format console like that, i would worry far more about easy of use. The Smartfade ML has great software you can hook it up to and get a vga out, cue stack, and a ton of other really useful stuff (runs on pc and mac) no idea bout the strand.

Does the Strand console have a personality setting for a "K9 LED PAR64 Bulldog"? (Somehow I doubt it.) You may have to use the "generic RGB LED" profile; I'm sure it has that. Make sure the fixture's address matches the console's patch and you should be good to go.

From a cursory glance, the Strand 200 plus looks very similarly featured to the SmartFadeML.
