Big top truss rigging

Hi,
I want to mount a lighting truss horizontally on the center pole of a big top tent. My problem is in finding any clamp couplers who will fit the diameter of the center pole. It's about 6-8 inches. Do you have ideas of what should i buy to be able to do that?
Thanks!

I would suggest devising a method to hang from the pole top. You can hang from the poles with spansets but it has to safetied to the pole top. You don't say truss size or weight so "how to" won't be given here. It does require you to talk to the tent company to approve of you idea.

From memory, i don't think there is a top pole... It's only two vertical pole who support the textile. I should say that it's only a 40x80 tent.
The lighting truss will be standard square global truss.
Thank you for sharing the mega couplers! It will definately help me!

Be very aware of the surface area under the poles. Since this is a tent, there is no foundation under there and the poles may sink. I've even seen them punch through blacktop. The problem is that if anything happens, the tent people will pass the blame to you.

Yes I know. The ground is mainly small rocks and I won't put extreme weight on the truss. It will only have 4-8 etc par on it.
I'll take note, worth saying.
Thank you

They should have a shoe for the pole. This takes the weight and spreads it over a larger area. They use them in circus tents all of the time. I've used them to put up large tents at encampments.

They actually make a device for what you're looking to do. Its a chain that wraps around the pole and tightens down to hold the point in place. I would call the tent company first to see if they have something, otherwise I would cross rent that from another production company.

If you're only hanging a few pars, why not just use a piece of pipe? Unless the horizontal piece will be connected between more than one tent pole I don't see the point. I have brackets that attach to a 4" pole that we use for pinspots, pars, etc., all the time. Bill from Entertainment Systems sold them to me. Relatively cheap. The only limitation is that they ONLY fit a 4" tent pole. But as Victor said, you might cross rent them more easily.

There are several other options to attach to a vertical tent pole.

I haven't tried all of these, and I know there are others as well.
