I will be there, along with 10-20 design people from my school...

I plan to be there from sometime Thursday through to Saturday noon. I don't know how many CBers will be there who imbibe but since I host a little get together for the Stagecraft Mailing List, I wouldn't mind if some CB's showed up. Thursday after Expo closes. Email me if you are interested. [email protected]

Well what kind of food do you like?

I'm open to anything, I just figured that people might have recommendations if they've been to milwaukee before and having it here in case other people get hungry and feel like venturing out for a bit this week there would be some options for folks.

Safehouse is good for booze. They have food too but booze is their specialty. If you don't know the password, you can still get in but I'll leave it to you to figure out how. It's one of Milwaukee's treasures if you have time to go there, do. If you go there for dinner, best to make a reservation.

Water Street Brewery is also really good, but it's a little pricier.

A lot of the places to the east of the Delta Center near the river are good.

If you really want an experience, there's a cheese bar a couple blocks northeast of the Center, the Wisconsin Cheese Mart. They'll give you an endless wealth of knowledge on how to best match beers with cheeses.

I'll be at the Expo Thursday afternoon. If anyone wants to get together afterward, send me a PM.

The Safehouse is legendary. I remember my Uncle telling me stories about it 25 years ago. Online comments suggest it isn't all that great these days, it's a more of a tourist trap now, but I still want to go.

I've been doing a little research on Food. According to the show "The United States of Bacon" AJ Bombers, a sports bar burger joint a mile or so from the convention center makes an amazing peanut butter and bacon burger. Yeah? I'm not so sure.

There's an all you can eat pizza joint about a half mile from the convention center called Tazino's that has pretty good reviews. Sounds like a great way to escape convention center food for a quick lunch. ($8 including drink)

#1 on the list for the DVS one and I is eating at The Smoke Shack.

Sobelmans will always be my MKE burger spot.

I graduated from Marquette so campus food is my specialty.

Yeah, the food isn't what you go there for you.

The number of famous performers, directors, presidents who have been there would astonish you. Just walk around the place and you can see all of the signed photos and memorabilia. You can get lost in there pretty easily.

I'm mostly excited about cramming in as much pizza on my way in and out of Chicago as I can. My goal is to find dvsDave, get my bagage, pick up the car, and be seated at Lou Malnati's in less than an hour from the time my plane lands.

I'm also interested in trying my first White Castle burger while in the area, but sadly there are none in Milwaukee.

If you want good pizza, go to New Haven CT, not Chicago. I'm just spoiled by Pepe's, The Spot, and Sal's, but I find the pizza in this region about like catsup on matzo. Go figure. Hot dogs, on the other hand, Chicago does pretty well. And what is Wisconsin without brats (with beer of course)?

I too got some poor contemporary reviews of the Safehouse.

Safehouse is for tourists :p

Go on a Milwaukee Burger tour: Sobelmans, Oscars and AJ Bombers. You decide who reigns supreme!

If you are of age,Lakefront, Sprecher and Miller all have worthwhile brewery tours.

Comet has awesome comfort food.

Ok I'll think of more in a bit...

If you're looking for more Chicago pizza on the way through, definitely check out giordanos. You'll only need one slice for a meal.

Safehouse is fun, but overpriced. I wouldn't plan making a night of it, but I do recommend stopping in.

As far as brewery tours go. Miller is free and pretty impressive. Lakefront is by far the most fun I have been on, but I"ve heard that Milwaukee Brewing has a better one. Sprechers? I like their product but their tour is lacking.

My preference for burgers has to be Sobelmans over AJ Bomers(free Peanuts!)

Any more questions please post. There are plenty of locals on here to help!

Mo's was good tonight for drinks. And I wasn't paying so that's always a plus

So, what sessions have people been to far? Hope everyone is ready for the expo to open!

We hit the safehouse for fun and for drinks, the beer is pretty good and the cups you buy with them make it even better. We went to a nice tappas place I cant remember the name of for food and it was great.
