How to Make These Cards?

Does anyone know how to make these hanging cards in Lightwright 5? I posted on another website and someone said
" I exported from Lightwright to CSV, and edited the data in Excel to make it clearer (negative x values from Vectorworks become SR, positive is SL, etc.). Then mail merge in MS Word with conditional statements to change the rotation field into an arrow, and change the box's color based on hanging position."

But i can not find how to export to CSV, does anyone know how to do that or maybe an easier way of making these?

You can actually copy and paste directly from LW into a blank excel. From there, you basically make a mailing label. A lot of people that do this often do it with filemaker pro.

You export to CSV using the "Export Data" command in the File menu. From the flyout select "Data..." You will get a dialog box where you can set up how you want the data exported. Once you set that up you can "automate" the action, which basically saves all your export settings so that you don't have to go through all the settings every time. I have automated exports set up for various different operations like making hang cards or importing patch into the desk.

does anyone know how to get the arrows in? Trying to set it so the arrow will be the way the instrument will be hanging on the plot but i don't want to have to have to do it for each card individually

Maybe don't bother with arrows. Instead create a text column in LW that allows you to add "SR" or "SL" to the units needing such (or -> <- arrows if so desired). That's a pretty fast edit in LW. Then choose that text column, which you can rename in LW as BTW, and choose to export that in the CSV export.

Find and replace, if you really want them.

I don't want to have go through the whole VW file and then insert the arrows to my excel file for each light just seems like a lot of time especially if its a large rig

There's a feature in Microsoft Office called "find and replace". You'd only have to do it four time: US, DS, SL, SR.

You don't do it in excel or VW. Do it in LW. Do a list of 1 Elec only. If units 1 thru 15 are all SL, then you do a quick grab of all "Pos" text cells for those units and edit in "SL or ->", repeat for the SR units. You could list all the main electrics needing such position data and do a quick edit in of this data. Then when you export the CSV and you get to choose in the map to send this data to the program creating the labels.
