Is it possible to go from DMX to Artnet? I have heard that nodes go both ways but I'm not entirely sure. This is for a home theater that runs off of Artnet and I would like to be able to output DMX from a basic DMX controller or PC software that has a DMX dongle like ETC Eos nomad.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

P.S. if is possible can anyone recommend a cheap node for a home theater budget.

ETC Nomad outputs Art-Net but periodically garbles the packet because they need to make money. They do the same thing with the DMX. You have to license Nomad. The least costly option is to find somebody willing to sell you an old Eos or Congo client dongle.

Still, Art-Net is an ethernet protocol so there's no need to go Ethernet-to-DMX-to-Ethernet.

Chamsys MAgicQ PC will do 16 universes of artnet for free.

Actually all 64 universes of MagicQ are fully enabled for output - no hardware needed at all for this.

Just download and install MagicQ and all 64 universes are fully enabled for output via Artnet, sACN and Pathport with no time restriction.

If you need some of the advanced software control features, like remote control via our remote apps or multi console networking that's when you'll need our hardware.

The only issue with using the free software versions without hardware or paid licences is that they will time out after a certain period. Which essentially is just a restart of the software to start the timer over, but in some cases that can be a bit of a joy kill.

With some control software yes... but the outputs of MagicQ are fully enabled with no time out, restriction or limit on the outputs at all. 64 universes output fully enabled without any hardware.
