Sennheiser EM 300 G1 in diagnostic mode

Strange- I have a EM 300 receiver that appears to be stuck in a diagnostic mode. Too strange to be a failure. Unit works fine BUT instead of the display showing the RF level and the AF level, The two bars are displaying the RF strength, one for antenna I and the other for antenna II. Kind of handy, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back to the standard mode!
As you know, the G1 was two generations ago, and it appears all the manuals on line are gone. I suspect it's a second page feature where you have to hold down buttons in a certain pattern as there is definitely no menu option for it.
Anybody know the trick on this one?

So, I purchased a spare used EM 100 off Ebay and guess what? Same strange mode! If I didn't have 10 other units that work just fine, I would be doubting my sanity! Best I can guess is it is an alignment/test mode. Contacted Sennheiser, and their response is they no long have information available on the G1 generation. I find that hard to believe, but suspect I would need a better contact as compared to the "general" tech support. I have the general operation manual, and there is nothing about this in it, so the goal would be to find a service manual at this point.

Sadly not covered in the owner's manual, or even in the service manual, but thanks for the try!
This is a "trick mode" probably known only to the design team that designed it. G2 and G3 actually have that display, but the G1 does not. Obviously, the design team was working on that feature for future units, but didn't write the menu code to switch it on or off. They know the trick, but Sennheiser has no desire to dig that deep for the answer on units that old.
