raspberry pi for click track + dmx control

Hi everyone, before I'm getting crucified: yes I have read the previous threads on combining lights and click tracks. And I have been googling this at length but didn't get anywhere. I do have a more specific issue though.

If I'm using my old raspberry pi (+ a dmx interface built for it like this one http://bitwizard.nl/shop/dmx/DMX-interface-for-Raspberry-pi), I understand that I can do all sorts of things. But does anyone actually have hands-on experiece with this? My question is : is there an audio player that
a) let's me play the click track
b) simultaneously triggers the dmx controller and also
c) has a user friendly front end?

the reason I'm asking c) is that I wouldn't wanna have to scroll through files in a DAW, while I'm on stage. If something looked like an ordinary audio player where our drummer can just start each song with one tap of his index, that would be lovely.
Has anyone here recently worked with sth like this?

I realize that you are probably looking to do this "on the cheap," but you might find it a lot easier to work with software like QLab on a Mac. Now that QLab has added lighting functionality, you could load your click tracks and put all your cue triggers in. They offer a very user friendly interface, and ultimately will be a much more stable and actually supported platform compared to finding some open source freebie for RPi.

Hm, well of course if there is a cheap solution that's great, but it's not like I wasn't prepare to buy some stuff. Thing is, I'm not a mac user, so compared to buying one just for doing the lights, most solutions will be cheaper. Also, I might do that with my laptop too, but I just want to avoid having a laptop/mac or such on stage, as there's always the hazard of damaging it, unlike the Pi that I could just fit to the rack our x air18 and our IEMs are in.

I did find a DMX control card for the Pi online last night, if that works okay I guess the main issue would probably be which software to use to fire off the click tracks.

I don't recall anyone ever getting "crucified" here although I believe Derek's been known to stone a few while getting his rocks off in his time.

I'm just cautious on specialist forums. Experts (on anything) can be quite a caustic bunch on the internet if someone asks a "stupid" question
