USITT 2018

Anyone going to USITT 2018 in Ft. Lauderdale?

Shot in the dark...This might be a good option for vendors or individual attendees!

I am Kristina Hess, an Auditorium Manager in MN. I am hoping to entice some folks into renting an AIRBNB temporary home rental with me rather than booking a hotel. There are still some homes available in Ft. Lauderdale and range from having 2 brms to 6 brms. Some of the houses I've been looking at have heated pools and grills and great views! We would have our own rooms and shared kitchen patio, and living space. Depending on how many are interested, the price could go down as much as $150 per night divided by room not by person.
It seems there aren't too many of the hotels that are close to the convention center and remaining availability is limited. Some of the houses I've seen are closer than the convention hotels!
Anyhoo... I will be bringing my non-theater husband and attending from Tuesday and leaving on Sunday thats a 5 night stay. example house currently available

OR if anybody already is doing something like this and needs to fill out a house, I and my husband will be going down and also possibly another TD friend of mine. That's possibly two rooms!

We are not partiers but, this is USITT and we expect to have a drink or two every night if not going out to a local pub for dinner and drinks. We anticipate having a car rental that my husband will drive to go fishing during the day. We are friendly folks. My District is paying for the convention but not the air and hotel so, keeping costs down is key!

Let me know asap if you may be interested! I will wait for about 2 weeks before making other arrangements for ourselves.
Sincerely,
Kristina

I know of some folks who did this for LDI. They are not members here as far as I know, but I can see if they are interested.

My wife has done this for the past few years with AATE the theatre ed conference, they've been splitting houses for awhile and its worked out real well and cheaply for them.

Fishing? I wasn't planning on attending this year but......
My husband would love company! last year He and my mother caught 6 huge fish! The boat company provides everything and With a kitchen and an awesome house with a view it could get cooked up! Maybe I’ve “hooked”you on this idea

I hope I can make this happen! Thanks for the encouragement!!
