In the upcoming month, we are purchasing 6 additional microphones (AudioTechnica 3000s). What is the best rack i can get for these that has locking functionality? It needs to be big enough to hold the 6 wireless receivers and a rack drawer for storing the transmitters and other miscellaneous tidbits... Anyone have any ideas? I was searching around the interwebs and couldn't find anything...

Thanks!!

Just throwing this out there. Racks aren’t hard to hand make. Honestly just go to Home Depot or Lowe’s or what ever your hardware store is get some black pair 2x2 and 2 prices of ply. You made a rack. Then to properly use it just get the rack rails off amazon or something. Then you can customize it how you want, maybe add casters. And if you do want anyone to see in the rack but want it to look nice, a nice price of black fabric around it looks great.

For our schools portable system I really like the Gator GTour stuff. Rugged enough that it can get thrown around by people moving it that arn't me. (Heavy Thought) Some of the larger 8U/10 u cases have caster which i Highly recommend if it will be moving around at all. If you are looking for 6 wireless and a a (3u) drawer, You are talking at Least a 6u Case. But an 8u would allow for a rack power supply and antenna distro, or the adding of 2 additional witless down the line. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...-t9dSWOyQk9ohYekqYMj2k2_MpJBHsMBoCSl0QAvD_BwE

I personally I have a number of the cheaper Gator Injection plastic (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GPro4--gator-g-pro-4u-19-portable-rack-case-4u) mold cases which work just fine for my personal gear that I treat more carefully and rides in the back of my car and not a truck. (they are mostly good for just protection during light transporting of gear(and keeping crap together), and not as much from about protecting it from abuse or others handling them) They are also much lighter.

I actually really like the SKB injection mold cases, but the only ones I see for sale now, of the coil spring shock absorb version which make the case a lot bigger for the same size rack space.

All of these cases have some manner of "securing" the lid panels with a small locks or zipties if needed.

If you are going with the AT-3000 series (I have 12 of them), make sure you buy the antenna/power distribution for them. They will manage up to 4 units each. They worked well for me since 2012.

Audiopile's "EWI" branded cases have a pair of padlock loops built in to the butterfly latch assemblies. Good cases for a reasonable price. If you look at the detail picture that shows the corner of the case and the butterfly latch and enlarge it, you can see the locking loops within that assembly. It might be a good idea to verify that functionality with them on the phone when making the order - the cases are made overseas and there may be some variability in the hardware, but they could check and make sure that your case has them. I've had a couple of the EWI cases and have been real happy with them - they're not Anvil quality, but for the price, they're terrific.

Don't forget to also look at 19" server racks, rather than limiting yourself to audio racks. In the picture you can see the one in our booth (gotten long before my time) that had locking doors on front and back but I removed them because they were no longer needed, and I attached devices to both front and back racks.

p.s. That picture was taken years ago, and the equipment has mostly changed since then if you planned on commenting on the devices.

Nah i wouldn't complain about the devices. Sometimes I still have to use a lightboard that runs off MS-DOS and Floppy disks :)
