Help - Pathport DMX Manager Plus stuck on firmware boot...

Hi,

I power cycled my Pathport DMX Manager Plus (a discontinued unit) before a show and now its stuck in a firmware upload mode? I did some research and downloaded Pathport Manager 3. I configured the bootp server as per the manual, and the pathport is receiving a dynamic ip address from the bootp server. However, it seems it is unable to locate the firmware files. The LCD displays TFTP:Attempt 1
Waiting 5...4...3...2...1
And repeats 5 times and then fails and reboots.

My connection is ethernet directly from laptop to pathport, with my computer on a static IP.

Any ideas?
Thanks
-Cam

Brian, the expert on legacy products, is out today (on his boat no less). This is an email from him. He’ll check in later this weekend.

If his unit is 10 years old, the Flash is probably dead.

Firmware for DMX Manger is actually titled
merger.bin
it can be found in a modern installation of PM5.
He could copy it to the PM3 firmware folder from there if it is missing.
If it is there, hey may need to temporarily rename it to
pathport.bin

Thanks! This worked and it flashed and booted up. Now, the only trouble I'm having (and always seem to have) is getting the interface to show up in pathport manager.

The firmware you updated to would probably only work in PM5. Have you tried there?
Pathway devices are dependent on IP address. Your PC must have a static IP in the same subnet.
If it was a factory IP address, you'd need to set your PC to something along the lines of
10.0.0.2
with a subnet mask of
255.0.0.0
Many times, firewalls can get in the way of Pathport transactions as well. You may want o try disabling temporarily.

Yep, that's exactly how I had it set up. All static ip's, using PM5, tried multiple different subnets & ip's. On PM3, I clicked on reboot all devices and the pathport rebooted, despite it not showing up in pm3.

But, at least I got it set up and working now. We're on day 3 of a month long tour
