Rosco I-Cue mirror problems

I have an IQ mirror that is not behaving as it should (the rest of them on the rig are). Every so often it gives a slight tick movement.
I’ve tried running it by itself, completed the 4 pin loop, the dmx line is terminated, turned it off and on again. Dmx speed is slowed down as far as it can go on my net3 gateway (and on port 3, so it can be slower).
Suggestions? Device is from 2011, so it does have some years on it.

Sounds like you've done a lot to diagnose. At this point Id say pull it out of the system and test it independently, etc. Eliminate cables, etc.

Have you ensured RDM is disabled on the gateway? It sounds like usual signs of RDM acting up, though it's strange youd only see it on that one I-Cue.

Well it’s working properly now. Apparently I just needed a day off... something tells me it’s going to die at some point relatively soon. Now to start setting aside money for the replacement.

Unlikely- but is it possible the problem unit is set to 8 bit? If so it might tick on slow fades

Nope it's set to 16-bit and moves fine it's just a little (less than a degree) momentary jog every few seconds.

Sounds like it's getting a bad DMX packet and starting to move, but then gets the correct data and jumps back. Is your DMX line good and properly terminated?

I once had a similar issue with a mover and it ended up being a voltage issue ( long cable run, small vague wire). I would check the voltage at the power supply and/or try a different power supply

Or better yet, check the voltage at the fixture with it powered up.

If there is a voltage drop problem, you won't detect it measuring the open circuit voltage or the voltage at the supply.

It is very possible to calculate those losses. I'm sure there must be a thread already explaining how to do that... If we really wanted I could dust off that part of my brain.
Generally, if the power rating of my power supply is that close I'll do anything to keep the powered (4-pin) runs AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE. Additionally I'll bring in another power supply or a bigger one.

I actually have two power supplies for my two I-Cues, and so does the theatre I work at with theirs. The smaller power supply goes right beside the I-Cue, no issues. With mine I CAN power two off of one PSU, but I need to keep the cable down to 50' total or less.

What's the power rating of your PSU @BlackoutGo ?

I've got a few pretty badass psu that's working well withing tolerences (We use 3 to 5 icues per show). Was talking to ROSCO and the tech narrowed it down to the Programmable rom which needs a ROSCO workshop to reset.
