Control/Dimming ETC Unison RemoteDirect

At my school we have a Unison Heritage Fader and Button station both of which feature infrared receivers. I've searched online for information on the remote for the stations, and I'm reasonably confident that our Paradigm system was installed after the newer remotes were introduced. Getting a hold of a or creating a remote isn't necessary as I've set up a WiFi network to allow remote access to the Paradigm and turn the presets on and off, but I'd like to have a one to make it easier and more convenient for the band and orchestra directors to work with the presets.

Judging by the fact that information on the remotes is pretty scarce, I'm guessing that getting in touch with ETC is my best bet.

All Paradigm stations use the latest version of the IR remote. Early Legacy Unison Systems used the older variants of the remote and those references aren't relevant to your Paradigm system. The IR sensor on the station(s) does need to be programmed by the ETC Authorized Technician to perform a function for each of the buttons available on the remote as the IR functions can differ from the physical button functions and default to an unused state. If this is functionality that you are interested in adding to your system, I would recommend working with your favorite ETC dealer for pricing of the hardware and the technician's time to add this programming.
 
Im sorry, I should have clarified earlier, there was a remote that previous students and the director had been using that was lost about a decade ago. My goal is to find or create a remote to make it easier for others to remotely control the presets without having to use the web-based interface. I would assume that the remotes would emit a specific infrared signal that corresponds to activating or deactivating a preset, which wouldn't be too difficult to replicate by programming a generic universal remote with said signal for each button. Would this approach work or would a technician still need to reconfigure the Paradigm with LightDesigner?

If the IR remote functionality was previously programmed into your system, you would not need a tech to reconfigure using LightDesigner (assuming you still want the buttons to do what they were doing).
If you lost the remote, all you would need to do is order a replacement from your favorite ETC dealer. (We do still have limited stock available)

You wouldn't be able to program a universal remote without the specific IR codes and the only way to get those is to learn them from an existing remote.
