SPL Meter with remote microphone?

My mixer is in a closed booth at the rear of the theater. We've got a window and good monitor speakers which make mixing tolerable. But I would like to put in an SPL meter with a read out in the booth and a mic located out mid-house so we get an idea of how loud it is out there. I'm not sure the best way to go about this.

Suggestions for an SPL meter with the mic located 40' away from the read out?

I've installed the older version (SL130) of the unit pictured below and it works great. Runs on batteries or wall wart. The "over limit" warning LEDs along the top do not work when using battery. The mic is detachable and actually uses the old S-VHS 4-pin cable as an extension. I think there is a limit to how far away the mic can be run though. I found some on eBay too.

The Extech is a nice device. My concern is that the cable length from the mic to the meter could be fairly long. An unbalanced, mic level signal would not go the distance. A meter with a balanced, XLR input would avoid cabling problems. NTI Audio makes one with an XLR input, and there are probably others.
