Used Black Curtains

Our theatre is smaller in size and looking for some black curtains to use as a main drape for "A Year With Frog and Toad." We need two curtains 12'6 inches to 14 feet High and 14 to 20 ft wide, preferably black so we can use them for other shows. We are willing to buy but our budget is limited.

We are also looking for curtain track. We are borrowing for Frog and Toad, but would love to get some for our new space. They will be dead hung but we'd like to be able to manually open and close or would explore rope opens/closes if you have one...

We have done the ebay thing and googled new curtains. We are hoping someone might be moving to a new look and have the old available to us in the Minnesota area to avoid enormous freight costs.

Rose Brand has a corner of their site dedicated to discount fabrics. Probably won't find exactly what you're looking for but may find something you can cut to size and hem in-house.

Used curtains courtesy of eBay won't be as good a deal as they may seem assuming you can find what you're looking for. For FR curtains, the flame retardant has almost certainly worn off and shipping it out to get reapplied would likely cost more than the curtains are worth.

I suggest calling rigging contractors and see if they have any laying around. It's a matter of timing.

When I specify replacements, I actually require the existing be destroyed because I don't want someone using them and not meeting fire codes.

Yeah, That's the unfortunate thing. There are a lot of times where I would like to donate old curtains BUT the liability imposed because of flammability, etc. makes that difficult.

We’ve got some. We’re in SWMN and relatively close. I’d have to talk to management, before I commit. Contact me for details.

When we donate or sell anything that has safety implications - wire rope slings, curtains, cabling, etc, we require the recipient to sign a waiver that releases and indemnifies us from future liability, and that acknowledges that the goods are used; that the goods may or may not be suitable for a particular purpose, that the recipient is familiar with the nature and use of the goods, and that any existing safety certifications be considered expired or otherwise void and that recert is the duty of the recipient. Faced with those requirements (indemnification and re-certification) means that most folks don't want our old stuff and it gets recycled or off to the landfill it goes.

I need two curtains that close to the middle. The opening is 20' wide and 12'6" high. However, I'd hang the track higher than 12'6", so looking for 13 to 14' high to give options.
