I just came up with a new idea for makeing donuts today when i ran out while hanging a show. you just use one as a patern and and cut the rest out of blackwrap with an exacto knife. tryed it and it worked, :) if the donut is too thin just stick it in a gel frame. hope it helps someone

sheet metal and a bi-metal hole saw, or better yet any gauge of steel and the properly sized Green Lee punch. Just got a drill operated nibbler fitting for it that was appairently quite the thing as a booth visited at LDI. Have not used it yet other than play testing it but the metals shop has and they love it. Very easy to use in scrolling thru steel plate.

Cardboard to some extent will also work to some extent, better would be fish paper - the sort of waxed cardboard that seperates electronic components at times. Similar stuff to what "safety frames" gel frames from cardboard used to be made out of. It's not normally hot enough on the gel frame to cause damage.

See now here is a great post ! Personally I've been doing this for years, We used to run out of donuts all the time in a warehouse I used to manage, so we'd just grab blackwrap and do as Drew here described. Difference is I don't think I would have thought of posting it here unless someone asked. I'm not being sarcastic or pedantic. I'm reallyu glad you made a post like that and I hope someone out there has one of those, slap yourself on the forehead, gestaltic, Oh my god !, moments and says , " why didn't I think of that !"
That's why I love this place !
Ok Pollyanna time over back to my crumugdenly old self.

I use pie pans... cheap and a little more stable than black wrap. I once made a lovely star field gobo with a pie tin and a very small punch.
