Mixers/Consoles Midas DL32 Automatic Mute All Issue

Hello!

New to the forum here. Have had ZERO luck tracking down an answer with MIDAS support or on their forums so I'm hoping that someone here has run in to the same problem I'm having.

Church I work for has an M32 at FOH and an X32 for backstage monitor, both running AES to the DL32. From our M32 we are running MADI coax out to our live stream setup that is a separate mix. For the past few weeks we have sporadic drop outs in our mains and on our live stream. All sound will drop live and online and then come back with 1-2 seconds. I at first thought it could be a problem with the M32. Luckily we have an X32 rack so we moved that to backstage monitor and our X32 to FOH to see if that worked and it didn't.

In trying different things I noticed that pushing the Mute All button on the front of the DL32 imitates the drop out problem almost exactly. So I've tested continuity on my AES cables and the AES ports. The FOH clock is set to internal and is reading the DL32 and the same for the backstage monitor setup. The only thing I can think is that the DL32 is for some reason triggering the Mute All option randomly throughout our sets. It was purchased in 2020 so there hasn't been a "recent" firmware update.

Would LOVE some insight or other ideas to try and test. The problem is near impossible to replicate so I'm about to the point of buying a new DL32 to see if that changes anything.

Thanks in advance!

By "MADI" I'm assuming you have a madi card in the M32?
If so, I had a similar problem with my dante card a while back -it kept "disappearing" from the system and all patches would revert to some factory original topography (resulting in a mute because it assumed local back-panel inputs, not stageboxes) but then it would come back. Got pissed-off at the whole thing once and just kicked the rack -to have it suddenly cure itself!
So pulled the dante card and re-inserted several times, made sure it was seated properly and tightened down good and haven't had a problem since.
There are some apparently some "tenuous" connections occurring internally (could be due to manufacturing variances and my unit was unlucky) but I now double-check the physical option card mounting in this platform often -especially after tours and dirty/dusty outside events and haven't had a re-occurance of that problem since.

This is interesting because while the x32 and m32 both recognize the Madi, it has a red box next to it in the upper right and not green. I'm a little shocked though that the Madi could affect what's happening in FOH when we're sending out to Madi and not receiving in. Also the fact that the drop is only 2 seconds at the most.

The drop out could be ESD on the AES50 line. *Shielded* CAT5e only, with Ethercon connectors on each end that are bonded to the STP ground.

Is anything plugged into the "remote" port on the mixer?

That red box means the console is not connecting sync with the MADI card. Start there.
