MAC 575 Krypton

Another new product announcement brought to you by Soundlight, the random surfer of manufacturer's web pages.

Martin has added a new moving head to their range, the MAC 575 Krypton. 16-31 degree zoom, iris, rotating 4-facet prism (that's a new one, I usually see 3-facet prisms in Martin stuff), combinde dimmer/shutter (bad idea, IMO), 2 8-position plus open color wheels, six rotating and nine static gobos, gobo morph effect, stnadard lamp is a GE CSR 575/S/DE/70, with a 7000K color temp.

All in all, looks like a sweet fixture. If anyone gets a chance to demo one, post a review.

Also, if you didn't catch this one in the anticipatory thread here, the Martin smartMAC is now out as well.

I wanna touch some cool girl like this MAC-575 like nobody's business! CMY. From my understanding, that's like the core of a moving light. In theatre I guess... no? That's the icing on my cake at least, man do I want some CMY... That's where the VL1000TSD comes in... man what I'd give to add some of those to that lighting proposal!

Not too impressed with this though... seems okay. But I'm not drooling.

Can you explain this "combinde dimmer/shutter (bad idea, IMO)" though?
