Was Tom Petty live at halftime?

I can still recall Shania Twain horribly lip synching at the halftime show a few years ago, which lead to a discussion with a techy friend, who claimed "nothing is ever live at the halftime show.

So this year, I tried to pay very close attention. It was difficult, because of the time delay, but it seemed to me as if maybe the band was really producing the sound this year. From Petty's adlibs, I would be pretty confident in guessing that his vocals were live.

So what about the band? Do you think those guys were playing live as well? It seemed to me like the mix changed a bit (for the better) about 45 seconds into the first song, so I'm wondering if they were really playing??

Anybody got an inside scoop on the audio of the halftime show?

I think the whole band was dead. Or at least on life support.

Ooh, you meant were they singing live. I don't know. I quit watching after the second song because I didn't think it was going to get any better.

But I think the LD was dead. Or at least dead broke. If you want an example of how not to do a half-time show, refer to that one.

I think the band was live. If not, they synced their mime playing with it really well. Plus his voice sounded off just a bit..

I agree it looked live..and I only say that because it was horrible.

And I'd have to agree the LD sucked..so much budget so little talent
