Best way to go about selling gear?

specifically some technobeams. I've listed it on highend.com, sound reinforcement, and mygearspace.com. Any other places that may get some bites? I'm unsure if I want to sell off the tbeams and buy tons of trackspots, or buy another 1/2 dozen tbeams and have to borrow a truck everytime i do a show. Currently, considering the cost of lamps and maintenance, i'm thinking tbeams aren't worth the effort for a little lighting guy that barely does 1 show/week and rarely gets additional $ for using the tbeams. Goodbye rotating gobos.

Solaris, Usedlighting.com, Lightbroker.com, Soundbroker.com, Gearsource.com, Craigslist...

Reach out to local bands, houses of whorship might be interested too. Why can't you get additional money for using them? Can't raise your prices a little??

Consider donating them and writing it off as a tax deduction. I happen to know of a 501(c)3 organization more than happy to receive "tbeams".

I think reaching out locally might be a good idea. If you can find the "right" organization, you may be able to work out a deal. You reduce the cost, but you get to borrow them back on occasion, while they use them more often, and pay for upkeep.

Personally, I love the Technobeam. The first time I saw them, their little 400W lamp out-shined the Martin 1220CMYRs with a 1200W lamp. Nice gobos, quick mirror, definitely preferred over the I-Beam, and in some ways better than the Cyberlight. I wish I had a use for them. Pie4weebl?

Ebay gives you a market place to the world, I buy gear from the US and Europe and China, the broker sites seem to be universally overpriced which is why some gear sits there for years.I hate to support a monopoly like Ebay but it is the best way to find out the real value of gear. But don't look at the broker sites and think wow my gear is worth that much, it probably isn't.

Is it worth trying to sell gear that is 25 years old or trying to scrap it. I have about 75 6X lekos fernnels and zooms scopes and strips that are sitting over the stage in storage. most of them have not been turned on in the past 10 years.

List'm on craigslist, I bet you can find someone out there who would pay more than you would get from scrapping it!

Are they in good shape? That will be a deciding factor. Even if not, many repairs are fairly cost effectve. Especially on those fresnels, scoops and strips. They have not changed much in the last 25 years. Removal of asbestos might be in store, but one could obtain replacement whips and wiring pretty easily. Even the lekos would be of use to someone as long as they have decent lenses and the reflectors aren't shot. 25 years --- that should be axial be then. Are these 360Q's? If so, you shouldn't have a hard time finding them a home. I would almost be willing to drive up to Massechusetts to take them off your hands! ;)

PS: If the strips are longer than 4', they will require shipment via freight, which will make them difficult to sell online unless it is a local buyer. But, strips are rare and expensive - don't throw them out. Especially if they have roundels.

If you can sell them outright I may be able to send someone over to have a look.

By "scopes" you mean scoops? Like this:

If so, I might be interested. Give me some more info and/or post them in the classifieds section here. You can also try the sites that others have mentioned, but in general the broker sites are overpriced, Craigslist is a buyer's market, and eBay will probably require shipping but have the most exposure. When I want to sell something "for real" eBay is still the best (although I very much dislike most of their seller policies).

Where is your warehouse? I might know of a buyer or be able to work out a way you can just rent them out.
