70's Lighting Design

i have a music festival coming up where all the students perform songs in houses. we thought we would do some thing different this year with the lighting

70's style lighting rig so here is what i was thinking

Tons of Parcans
Haze
Audience Blinders

anything else i need

Wow, this thread is ripe for all sorts of jokes about 70s lighting, but I will resist… I think..

Technology was very limited back then, but luckily nobody attending will look too close behind the scenes. PARs were king, Beam projectors were popular. (I think there is still an old stack of them back in my shed, complete with white fluffy wiring.) Plots tended to include horizontal blocks of pars all gelled in the same color, with different colors separated vertically. (row of 4 red, row of 4 blue, row of 4 amber, etc.) Movers had not been born yet, but maybe you could put a few in overhead truss positions as truss spots (with operators) were in use back then. Lots of old theater gears was canablized back then and used for R&R, so you would also find boarder lights used as floor lights etc. Good Luck! It should be fun!

You could explain that blacklights are long-wave UV, not the short wave type found in say, clothes-dryer disinfecting lamps.

oh yeah oil lights! or acid washes as i've heard them called...needed one over head project, elementary school style, one glass baking pan, water, food coloring, an vegetable oil...proof that you can make lighting equiptment out of anything.
