LED Rain 56's at a corporate event

I wanna see Tay Zonday sing about "L-EEEEEE-D RAAAAAAAAAIINNNNSSS".

they look good, especially if you constantly have a booth set up (say touring trade shows) and want it to stick out, or just need a booth to really pop, a little pricey at $140 - 200 (thats the range i found) to point at an animate objects for me, but long life, weight, and the ability to mix colors would make me look into them if I did anything like that.

Looking at hte specs they look like a great little DJ fixture. Chauvet is really starting to grow on me.

I second that porkchop. I'm thinking of getting something LED to play with.

For all of those wanting to play with LED cans for cheap, ask Bill about his price on ColorSplash (LEDsplash) Jr. units. (Bill, I'll be calling tomorrow to place an order). I'll post a review after I get mine.

What I really want to know is if the Chauvet DMX-55 can control conventional DMX dimmer packs easy enough. I know you get what you pay for, but if it can do both conventional and intel's at that price I'm getting one.

The 55 has a joystick, so you can do easy movement stuff when you get your Chinese knockoff scanners. (However, from what I've seen/read, I'm quite partial to the DMX-70, so I may have to save up some money this summer). You can control dimmers with either the 44 or the 55, you just make one or two (or however many you want) of your "fixtures" just dimmers. This way the sliders control all of your intensity levels. Look at the different tutorials on youtube that DJs have done for LED parcans using this style of controller (fixture buttons on left, then sliders, then programming keys). They're super-simple to use.

What about ADJ DMX Operator Pro? 8 Dedicated conventional faders... plus other options, and it has the ADJ name!

The DMX 55 has been discontinued but there may be stock left on dealers shelves. If there is I'm sure it's going cheap.

The DMX 70 MAPs at $ 199.99, the same price as the 55 did but offers a lot more.

Wow! Boy do these look fun!

I've been wanting both something LED to play with, as well as something useful for random lighting scenarios, this fits the bill, that low-low power consumption! Stand-alone color mixing, fun stuff! If only I had some $$$ I'd buy a pair of these guys. Two things are holding me back: 1. All my bday money was in Amazon gift certificates... 2. These wouldn't get here in-time for a thing going on Friday.

The DMX Operator Pro is a very limited controller. It offers only 132 channels of DMX compared to the DMX 70 which offers 384 channels. The 70 also now allows you to program fade and rate times into each individual scene a feature not available on the Pro.

More features than the DMX Operator Pro at $130 less? Ha... *mutters to self: Gaff still should have gone all ADJ for his new theater...*

Just curious, as I don't have the funds available now: You don't stock the DMX-70 do you? I don't see it on your website.

Now: Hmm, I could purchase two of these LED units from Amazon and have them on Thursday in-time for the coffee-house event, for $15 out of pocket... choices... choices... choices...

I own a DMX-44 and run stella gear on it, paid $120 for it, works great for what it is.

"Jittery"

I have not found that to be the case. We've been using LED fixtures for quite some time now. Some brands tend to be better than others and within brands some fixtures are better than others.
