Strand keyboard question

Go figure, that I, one who gives lots of Strand advice, needs some.

Here is the situation, on my 520, my keyboard (external PS/2 QWERTY) has stopped working. Here is the catch though, it works in the BIOS, and in DOS, but as soon as the Strand OS loads it doesn't. I have tried other keyboards and both PS/2 ports, and I haven't found anything useful in the manual. Of course the problem persists after rebooting.

My local Strand guy said he thought there was a way to lock out the keyboard, but he couldn't remember offhand how to do that. Any insight would be nice!

i recall shift "." locks the trackball dont think i found a key combo to lock the keyboard. i swear ive seen something about the mouse or keyboard in some menu. its been a while since ive been on a strand or any board for that matter.

As a serious question, what good is locking the trackball? The only lock I've ever needed on the trackball is a physical lock on the track-ball! It sits right under the window, and on more than one occasion I've had students walk up to the window... while I'm working in the booth and remove the ball from the mouse, and proceed to roll it around or play catch...

Charc, have you ever thought that maybe you should move into the universe next door. This one and you just don't seem to get along.

You can lock the trackball in the X axis or Y axis so you only move a fixture in one direction for more precision control. To do this on a 500 series you press the center green button above the trackball and the left or right green button at the same time to lock either the X or Y axis.

Oh, that's ingenious! I never thought of just locking X or Y.

Here is some more interesting news to add to the saga. We struck the tech tables today and moved the board back up to the booth. Hooked everything back up and presto! My keyboard works again. Can't figure it out. The only other thing that I changed was rebooting the backup console, but that should have no effect on a local keyboard. I don't get it, don't know what happened, but I am happy that at least for now, my keyboard is working.

Don't touch it, don't look at it, don't sneeze at it.....
