I have a chance to play with the classic palette last friday.

When I fade up a sub-master, it got a delay of 3-4 sec. everytime...

So the scene will be

I fade up --> nothing change on stage -> after i fade up (around 4 sec.)... --> Stage bright immediately...

Next week I will need to run a musical on it. How do I solve this problem?

Thanks.

Best Wishes,
KMK

Post your question in the official Strand/Horizon Palette Software forum http://www.strand-dev.com. All the software designers hang out there and they answer questions pretty fast. The link isn't up anywhere on the Strand site yet but the head software designer told me it's now ok to distribute it. If you can upload a copy of the show file with your post and they will take a look at it and tell you what's wrong.

I remember using the console a few years back, and they all had that problem. This was with the original software, the non-horizon version. If it is still running this software, which it shouldn't be, it could be that. Sounds to me someone put a delay on it. Never trust a demo console, way to many people have their hands on it.

First question is, what version of software is the console running?

It should be at 10.3.1.

On the PCB's there should be some stickers with "born on" dates. What do these dates read?

Hmm that's odd. Was this a really early demo Footer? My understanding was once the buyout happened, Strand held off on releasing the Palettes until they redid the software. Did you get a demo before the buyout? By the time I saw it on demo at LDI 2006 it had the original Horizon software even though it was still a month or two from being released.

Back to the question... if the screen isn't black and tan and instead has lots of pink you have old software. Hang with Darthrob on this. He's your expert.

Yup, it was actually the console that GrandStage (Strand Rep in Chicago) has for their demo/training console. Summer of 2006 I was M.E. at a theatre and they had it dropped shipped to me to try it out. It was one of the first off the line during the initial roll out. The software it shipped with was the first to be able to output DMX on the console without using an SN110 node. The "original" Beta software was available on Bobby's website last time I looked at it, looks like now he took it down recently. I am sure if you really want it, he could email it to you if you would want to take it for a spin. If I remember, it was actually pretty mature before it got pulled. The software was great, I remember it having some hardware issues.

Footer You are a Pioneer! Crazy stuff.

I'm actually quiet happy with the newest software. Still a few issues I would change but I've submitted them to the software guys for consideration so hopefully they will consider them.
