Does anyone know if the Altman skycyc units are the same as the old Kliegl skycycs? Thanks.

While both are based on the Berkey-Colortran FarCyc, 1976?, the Altman and Kliegl are two different fixtures. I could be wrong, can't find any proof at the moment, but I believe Altman trademarked the name Sky-Cyc. I'm pretty sure the Kliegl came first (and was never called SkyCyc), as I used them on a show in 1986, and I think the Altmans didn't come around until 1988 (maybe later) or so.

My favorite of all of them is still the Strand/Ianiro/QuartzColor Iris, 1980. One doesn't have to bend or flex the colorframe, it goes into the fixture flat. Also in my experience, produces the most even wash.
