    Non-DMX fogger

That's the issue for me. I can wire most anything, but it's the Chauvet plug and remote that I'd need to figure out.

    Automation for a Roll-Up Drop

We recently tried this with our scrim, which was highly discouraged. Our opening is a lot larger (28' Wide x 16' High) and we used 4" PVC tube that we stuffed with ply to make it more rigid. It worked, but because of the scrim material we always had a bow. We ended up using a winch to control...

    Non-DMX fogger

So I was "gifted" a Chauvet DJ Geyser T6 fogger, which was nice but it's not DMX. As it's not a crucial piece of equipment, I was thinking about if it would be possible to do some tinkering with the remote and make it sort of DMX. Anyone ever try anything like that? And yes, I know I'm...

    Fuse fire?

I would much rather conjure new equipment and a working budget...Thanks for all the input everyone, gives me a reason to open up all the equipment again and tinker.

    Fuse fire?

Interesting. Brand new lamp (12 hours on it at time of failure), do you think the fuse might have looked good but I overlooked the internals? It definitely wasn't hot in the building and the unit wasn't confined.

    Fuse fire?

That's why I asked the question. The instrument wasn't acting wonky or throwing any codes prior to the failure. It had been maintained and cleaned and inspected, everything looked fine. During act one of the worst Christmas show ever (That's not the official name of the show but it could...

    Fuse fire?

So during a show, I noticed one of my old MAC 700s show a code, but I couldn’t read it from far away. Then it shut down and was out, no big deal.Set up the scaffolding and crawled up, went to pull the fuse and it won’t come out. Opened up the unit and apparently the fuse burned out and so...

Feel free to post photos/stories of the nastiest or most concerning lighting instruments you've found.

I don't have a picture right now, but I had a man try to donate some old 24" scoops that had a nice fuzzy white jacket on the wires. He said they came from an old theater he was tearing down and he didn't know if they were useful. Apparently, they hadn't heard of asbestos abatement.

Anastasia... just because you can, doesn't mean you should?

I used to work in a road house that was overbooked and underfunded and really not meant for touring shows. We used to do a lot of one-night stops and the number of shows that had issues like this amazed me at first. When I was advancing, there were numerous times that the tech advisor I spoke...

    Will the HPL disappear?

Stop dropping mics! I'm tired of repairing and replacing them!

    Singers and mics

If the singer is a professional, I don't mind it because it's part of their show and they UNDERSTAND how it makes them sound. The singers I work with seem to think that I need to ride the fader to make them sound like a professional. I think the problem is that people see singers move the mic...

    Budget Wireless Element Suggestions

Does anyone have any experience with the Easy-Fit Earset from bodymics? @Rod Reilly , we're looking at replacing at least two of our mics and the singers have been taping the lav mics to their faces... I'd rather have a headset or earset, but the old sound "guru" thought taping was the best...

    Anti-Slip/Skid

And when I worked on a production of Hair, and the actors were, ahem, not wearing costumes at the opening of act 2, the ultra-violet body paint they wore ended up all over the stage...

    Band/Choir portable acoustic shells

Okay, there's a few schools of thoughts:1. Attach them side to side to create a full shell behind the group with no curve. The sound will be reflected directly out.2. Arrange them in a arc to focus the sound at the conductor3. Leave gaps in between to allow for focus of the sound but...
