    Boss Management thoughts?

Jay, it always stinks when you have been hired for a "creative" job and the EP feels that you are too creative... It is that razor narrow path of how much are you willing to compromise your personal artistic standards and still keep your name on the thing. I left full-time motion picture work...

    Music Licensing Services

Sooo... This is one of the things I do here at the amusement park.It is a challenge. There are four major licensing agencies that we work with to get the full spectrum of popular music to play.We have park ambient music (in a few zones with differing genres) We have restaurant music (each...

Sending Audio to ATEM for Recording

Yes.... and pick a quality cable like Canare L4-E6S for your adaption.Yea it is a different world to forget about the house mix. I agree with BCAP, if you can turn off the house amps, do it.If you have some good NFMs to set up you can mix it like that. The ATEM box is reasonably accurate...

    Issue with Mains

<Slaps forehead> I have a wide variety of Crown amps here that we'd be pleased as punch to donate: Macros, Micros, CTs.How can we help? Did you fix this?We are in the process of changing over to QSC amps at all locations in the park for a multiple of reasons. We have about 35 Bogen Cs...

    Truss outside the US

I (nearly exclusively nowadays) specify and use Thomas 12x12 Supertruss, which lists in SAE dimensions but always seems to arrive in odd-ball Metric lengths to equate SAE lengths...Be certain to specify inspection requirements for your rentals. There are plenty of less-than-scrupulous truss...

Choosing paint colors for a filmed production?

Yes, yes, it is your phone "helping" you get the "best" picture possible.Because most gimboids with a phone don't want to know how things work, it has picked different white balances and gamuts based on pre-set algorhythms that evaluate scene content and adjust. If you can establish what WB...

    WTB: Old Lighting Console

I have a HOG2pc with the ultra-rare programming sidecar that I'd let go for the effort of somebody coming to get it...

    Superbowl LIV halftime show

Dear (insert name of diety here), that audio was rubbish! POV pivoting in the hall of lights was nauseating after the first full minute...It seemed VERY long.Overall rating: Mostly Harmless.

Color Correction Gels for Cheap LEDs

What you can try: https://www.leefilters.com/lighting/zircon.htmlI have had satisfactory results with these. Hopefully your sources have enough spectrum to be useful.LEE offered a sample pack at LDI when they introduced these... maybe you could get one? Some simple sentences guaranteed to...

Wagon for drum set; everything about drum riser

OK, I am a drummer. I have played on all kinds of risers... Some great, some chock full of opportunity for improvement. The best I ever played on (aside from something pre-made like Stageright) was a custom 10'x10' platform made of 2x6s for the frame and 1" MDF for the deck. They had like...

How do you deal with low lying fog wet flooring?

I have used the Antari unit with dry ice and also (very)chilled saltwater. It lays low well on a surface that isn't too warm.It was about as loud as your average fogger...HVAC can play havoc with it though. If your cast has capes or flowing dresses it disturbs and migrates pretty easily...

    Backup generator for a theater

Jay, I wish it was true, but no they were all "free". We were operational testing late one August and I was looking at the fuel racks on the diesel when the HVAC hit and the govenor rolled out to about 95% (from ~20%) and that old FM Diesel barked once and rolled a tower of black smoke a mile...

    Favorite Multi-tool Brand

I was at a job site a few days ago and a "youthful" person asked me for a "tool".I asked which tool he needed specifically.A puzzled look rolled over him and he explained that he wanted a "tool, you know like a thing that folds out with a wrench and screwdrivers and a knife"I asked what he...

    Backup generator for a theater

I have a bit of experience and would agree will all of the above. If you really need 100% load transfer you are looking at a substantial ground footprint. We had a ginormous (possibly larger) Liebert UPS that would take the load for exactly 20 minutes. The generator (750kW) took less than a...
