Is an MFA required to become a Lighting Designer?

@RonHebbard @jtweigandt @microstar You've given me a lot to think about. I think that might be what I needed to hear. I might just have to make some changes to my college plans if I want to make this work. A dream never becomes more than that if it's never acted on after all.Thank You

Is an MFA required to become a Lighting Designer?

I've thought about all these, and I'm sort of weighing the benefits, undoubtedly a good MFA program would be beneficial in so so many ways. But is it worth the financial cost and another possibly 3 years of school? I'm not too sure, I suppose I'm looking for advice/testament to whether or not...

    WTB: Old Lighting Console

Possibly, ive been looking at a few of those, trying to find specs on the dimensions of the panels (as in what size rectangle for the bottom., the middle screen part, and the top fader bit). PM me

Altman PHX LED Leko Soft Focus Accessory

Apparently the fixtures do ship with them, however it appears the installer rather took them with them, discarded them, or got a deal on lights that didn't come with them. Not sure but I don't have any

Altman PHX LED Leko Soft Focus Accessory

A school I work at recently had new lights installed, they are Altman PHX 250w led lekos, some zoom, the rest 26° Barrels. While focusing some fixtures I noticed color fringing along the edges of the focused beam, possibly due to their led array of the fact that they shine through grating in...

More like lets hope the faders are a standard slide potentiometer I can replace where needed, in a perfect world they would all work, but im seriously doubting it 😅

    WTB: Old Lighting Console

Thats exactly the thing, I expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars in parts/materials/a computer to stuff inside. So a shipped console at $140, where I might have to modify circuitry/create my own, is well worth it to me. I'm fully expecting to have to design circuitry to get the faders to...

I found a Colortran Innovator 24/48 on ebay, for parts. Only $40 plus shipping. Should work perfectly to keep the faders, and gut the right side of the console.

    WTB: Old Lighting Console

I will definitely keep those in mind, I'm more looking for a console, so I have a shell to work off of. But if I end up building from scratch those would work quite well, I like the modular form.

I was looking at an Obsession 600! it would've been perfect, those old consoles fit the bill but they're a pain to ship. Had a quote for $400 just to ship the thing :(

    WTB: Old Lighting Console

@microstar At a bare minimum I'm looking for at least 10 faders, more is better, and it's gotta be around 30 inches wide (but it can be bigger) to accommodate everything I want to include. Also any level wheels are a plus. My options are really open, I just gotta see what I can make work.
