    What moving Head?

The 2K's will eat up the channel count on your Express, not to mention they will be a nightmare to control. If you are going to go the mover route you will want to update your console as well.

Try all the big rental houses. PRG, 4Wall, Scharff Weisberg, etc..

    Whole Hog Question

You should take your time creating pallettes as they can make or break your programming. Definitely create your own groups and focus pallettes. If you are in a rush for time you can have the board generate color and beam pallettes, although I would recommend creating your own. Personally, I...

Control/Dimming Hog 500 Faders with LEDs

^exactly what he says The fader controls intensity, which, when running in RGB mode, the LED's don't have. Thus, when you play back a cue the board sets all attributes and the LED's will come on to the full value set in the cue. They will continue to behave like this unless you create a...

    Control/Dimming Hog II attribute control

Like you have previously stated, the easiest way to lamp on is via the pallet. To control other attributes via encoder wheels you must press one of the buttons that selects which group of attributes you want to control. You will see four buttons in a row: Group, Focus, Color, Beam. Selecting...

    Changing Lighting Conventions?

I thought Ken Billington did a great job of mixing the two in his design for High Fidelity.

Automated Fixtures Reliability: Vari-Lite vs. Martin?

I've very rarely had to pull down a VL3K or 3500. When we had 2500's, I pulled those down even less. I haven't had to pull down 2K's a whole ton, but shutters in the Performance have given us some issues.

Design Water FX: Rotator or Loop?

The dual Rosco Animator wheels out of focus look great for a rippling water effect.

    Design LED Par 56 Help!!!

In all probability it will be 10x easier to find S4's than Selecon's from rental houses. I don't know of too many that carry them. Many of the big boys, like 4Wall, don't even carry them. Metal breakups are really not expensive and can be reused. If you own the LED pars might as well use...

    Design LED Par 56 Help!!!

Don't bother sinking the money into the Selecon's for a one-off wedding. Go rent some S4's and buy some tree breakups, that'll do the trick. Use the LED Par 56's as uplight right under the surface you're projecting the trees onto and they should act as fill around your trees (pending what gel...

Automated Fixtures How to do this?

From what I understand, the VL2c's color wheel is incredibly fast

Automated Fixtures Have 8 movers and want to make sure I get most out of them.

Having the movers track people could be considered clumsy at best. Like the above poster mentioned, the best way to do it is via an AutoPilot system. Especially for someone who doesn't have a good deal of experience with movers/programming movers. If your goal is to create nice tight...

Best board for Busking from this list

Hate to hijack, but if I have the option/money I will always take HO. On one occasion a special pickup was arranged, showed up at ALPS and no one was there. Not even so much as an apology. Also on numerous occasions I have received either equipment which wasn't working, or incorrect (i.e...

Best board for Busking from this list

Rent from HO. They have a Hog 500, but those tend to be out on shows a lot, in which case you can get the 1000 for the price of a 500 ($300/wk). Plus service at HO > than at ALPS. For busking go with one of the hugs hands down. Throw the cue list page up on the monitor and you're good to go.
