    Melting Twistlocks

When I'm working on the pigtails, I trip everything in the rack (and have my little voltage-sensor-beeper-pen-thing with me to check everything before I touch it). I have a tendency to be overcautious (if that's possible).I know most of the school maintenance dept. They're very helpful and...

    Safety Issues in the Theatre

I'm not sure if there is no service disconnect, but I know that no electrical closet in the general part of the building has anything over 400 amps, let alone enough power to drive 2 CD80's.

    Melting Twistlocks

Rattle test? That sounds quite ingenious. And definitely less time consuming than taking apart every plug in the place. Especially if I too apart a plug every circuit or four.Sharynf: I agree, fixing broken things is a very, very major part of tech. Particularly unsafe broken things. If...

    Unknown Ladder/Scaffold

The center peice of those A-frames lift up!?!!? How do they stay up?! I was just reading this and thought... "that looks just like mine. Except the top peice goes up." Thank you!!!!! I might just be able to focus those confounded side lights safely!! (I gave up on the 24' extension on a...

    Melting Twistlocks

I'd love to go all stage pin, but I simply don't have the funds. This year was the first year we had any kind of budget, a grand total of fifty entire dollars. I can beg the school to get me lamps and they usually will. Other than that, I really don't know. And when I do start bringing up...

    Melting Twistlocks

Jezza: The connectors are too badly melted to unscrew. That's part of the problem. The socket and plug are melted together, and they're both melted enough that I can't undo them without a hammer. I have no idea if they were locked, originally... they were probably hung over 10-15 years ago...

    Melting Twistlocks

My highschool auditorium hasn't been maintained in a while, and we have a bunch of twistlock sockets (on pigtails) melted to the plugs in them. Have any of you encountered this problem before? Why does this happen? Is this just a case of Abused 20 Year Old High School Auditorium Syndrome...

    Safety Issues in the Theatre

Wow. And I thought my high school auditorium was bad... People batting balls around? Aerobics is one thing, but batting balls?Oh, and is no service disconnect breaker for two CD80SV 96 slot dimmer racks a bad thing? And flaming swords? Like, real fire?

    Replacement Lenses?

Ship: Thank you very much! If I can't get them from Strand, how could I go about finding that information about the lenses? Or getting a spec sheet for that matter, I am having trouble finding one with Google.PadawanGeek: No, Lekolite is not spelled backwards, my webcam is built into my...

    Replacement Lenses?

My bad, the bulbs are T-6, as seen on this website (this is where I bought bulbs the last time)http://bulbconnection.com/viewitem/bcrw/itmid/374/oc/FEL/item.htmlBen DwyerP.S. The lights are not round, like most, they're rectangular

    Replacement Lenses?

My school has a bunch (30) of rather old Strand Lekolites (apparently they are zoom fixtures. At least they have two movable lenses). I can't find a more detailed nameplate anywhere on the fixture. They have four shutters, a T9 1KW bulb (if I recall correctly), and have a B type (again, I'm...

Speaker Wire Extension and How to Plug in a Sound Rack?

Thank you all very much for your responses, I'm sorry I was unable to respond until today, but my laptop's power brick fried itself.Anyway, I now that I think about it, the speaker cable was probably three-wire cable that just didn't have the shield connected. I can't get anywhere near the...

Speaker Wire Extension and How to Plug in a Sound Rack?

I want to move the sound rack in my booth, but the speaker wires running to the FOH speakers have no slack whatsoever. I was wondering if it would be safe to cut off the banana terminator (I think that it is banana, I'm not sure) and extend them with some cheap unshielded speaker wire from...
