Not my concept. Just a case I pushed.

    transporting chandeliers

I used to share gigs with a decorator who had wooden skeleton crates, no sides. The chandeliers hung from the top of the case and were secured at the bottom to prevent swinging. And he always carried spare facets anyways cause you never know what might happen.

    Programmable Keyboard

I've seen similar programmable keyboards customized for Strand Palette consoles. I've gotten pretty good at the lightfactory shortcuts lately.

    Lee Color Filters..

It's a long story that started with a now antiquated color system developed in Europe. Prior to systems, like the various CIE standards, RGB values, CMYK, Hex, and all the other ways we can now describe color, they needed a way to delineate colors. Unfortunately, the system wasn't robust enough...

    Front Lighting a Church Stage

I know that the Altman 65Q is not sexy. Even brand new, they look old. BUT- if budget is the only thing stopping you from hanging more fixtures, look into them as an option. You'll get more control over beam spread and spillage using a Fresnel than a Par can, and they have nice soft edges so...

    Wayward Design Spot 250

Is your power clean? I had the same issue with a pair of those last summer. They only gave me trouble during weekday rehearsals- We decided that the timing suggested our power was browning ever so slightly due to some heavy electrical loads being moved and tested in the adjacent building.You...

    Strand 520i and HES Technobeam

Another note- I think there were a few lens options for technobeams- If you have the wrong optics in the wrong slot then you might see diminished intensity. You'd likely also see distorted or cut off gobo images and projections.

    Strand 520i and HES Technobeam

If you have another technobeam handy, you can swap addresses- and see if the problem follows the address or the fixture.Try a different personality on the Technobeam- maybe the profile isn't the match you thought it would be?Double check your patch and fixture address- being just one number...

Automated Fixtures PS 5R equivalent of Martin or other?

You're on the right track with that PlatinumSpot5R. I've used them for years in community/semi-pro theatre, very versatile, only a few small problems over the years (one stopped zooming- no worries for you though- you don't want zoom) (one has a finicky gobo wheel that reseats after reset)...

    LED

That's enough info for me to say- hey buddy, consider the big picture. This points to very simple on off operation that would coincide with using the fixtures as houselights.I'm sure he appreciates you championing his cause. Heck I appreciate it. But I do believe my comments are relevant and...

    LED

If the lights are intended to cover the audience and be used as house lights then it's a valid concern. And one that's often overlooked. I have no regrets.

    LED

Who wants to ask about emergency egress lighting? Go ahead, somebody needs to break the news that the LED's he's looking for are only a quarter of the cost involved. My advice- start with infrastructure. Get your power distribution sorted. Get control in place. Be sure that your emergency...

Upgrading led chips inside of a scanner or moving light

The operation of LEDs, particularly those used in entertainment lighting, are far more complicated than you might realize. With your standard incandescent/halogen lamp, apply voltage and you get light. Too much voltage and you get a burn out. A dimmer can be used for managing that voltage by...
