We just bought two. They're working great so far. One question though, the power lights on each unit are different colors. One unit has a red power light and the other unit has a green power light. I assume it's not an issue, but I just wanted to ask.
RDM being on can cause issues like that. What brand/model node? Make sure RDM is off on the console (exit to shell, go to network section, uncheck the rdm option) and off on your node if it supports it.

Could it have been the tension of the rollers? I know if that is off the colors won't hit their mark. You could try the string that was giving you trouble again with the correct roller tension, or try in in another scroller (maybe that's what you meant by trying a new motor?).
You run an ETC Eos family console and your aRFR won't work on it? I run an iPad mini with iRFR and my phone aRFR, along with designers who use their phones/iPads when they are here. Sounds like a setup issue.
