I have what must be the first version of the stage color 1000. I say that because it does RGB color mixing and the manual on claypaky's site shows a completely different display panel and does CMY. The document title says rev. 1 in it. There is a pc board in the bottom of the unit that says...

Thanks for the info! My fixtures are the earlier version so there is no documentation online for them, just the later version that does cmy mixing. Thus, I only have a wiring diagram for the newer one and am not sure where the ignitor or ballast are. I did, I believe, find the thermal sensor...

A lamp in one of my Clay Paky Stage Color 1000's won't strike. It will respond to all the DMX commands (tilt, pan, color, etc) but the lamp won't come on. I've checked and even replaced the lamp and checked for continuity from the lamp socket to the PC board and all the wiring seems to be fine...

After taking it apart again, I discovered that the set screw was just a little loose and it alowed the color wheel to slip ever so slightly. It seems to be happy for now.

You are correct in that it has worked fine up to this point. Since everything else is working fine on the light, I'm thinking it is probably the sensor rather than the software. But then, I've been wrong in the before...;)

I'm not real sure how to adjust the color wheel. I was thinking that it was on a gear type drive like the gobo, but it's on a continiously turning motor and just uses the magnet to find "home". Can you give me a little more info on how to adjust it? I was thinking, too, that you have to hold...

OK. Here's a very economical solution. Take a picture of my pasty white, not-had-time-off-to-get-in-the-sun-for-years, legs and make a transparency of them. Then just pop that up on an overhead projector and you'll have 6,000K + white. :shock:

This brings up a very important question. WHY is the rum always gone?!?
