    Mixers/Consoles X32TC Is Now TheatreMix

For anyone who hasn't heard, X32TC is now TheatreMix and adds support for many consoles from Yamaha and Allen and Heath.https://theatremix.com/

Sound f/x MP3 files.....are they really that bad?

Qlab does have to use extra processing to decode MP3 (or any compressed file format) compared to uncompressed formats, which can be an issue on slower computers or very complicated cue lists, but generally speaking won't be a problem. As far as fidelity is concerned, I don't know of really...

Recommendations for coloring lavalier mics in hair

+1 for Copic markers - they have worked great for coloring down our B3 and MKE2's.

    X32 Wireless Inputs

The money you would spend to make this work would probably exceed the cost of a used Macbook/Mac Mini to run Qlab and an iPad to run Qlab Remote.

Sound f/x External 2-Way Radio Input

Hey All,I have a show coming up which has actors playing police officers talking into their radios. I would like to send a signal of "radio banter" to their biscuit as a practical sound effect and figured I would see if anybody here had any advice on getting an "external input" fed from an aux...

Behringer: x32 Compact -OR- x32 Producer?

The only advantage the Producer has is the rack-ears. That said, the M32R is a much better alternative *if* you need to rackmount the console. Otherwise, the Compact is better in just about every way as others have already mentioned.

    Sennheiser Rebate / 300 vs 500 series?

Oh, yeah - I've used a few mixed G2 and G3 systems (G2 Rx/G3 Tx), I just wasn't sure if the difference in frontend filtering between the 1/3/500 series was the same in G2 or not. That said, I don't think I've ever disabled Pilot tone when mixing G2/3 systems! I'll be using a mixed system again...

    What is replacing Shure UR?

Note that Shure recommends cascading no more than 2 ULX-D units together, I believe it is a passive-through so signal degradation occurs with each split. That said, with (x2) quad receivers cascaded, a single UA845 active splitter can feed up to 32 channels in 9 rack spaces(!)...

    Sennheiser Rebate / 300 vs 500 series?

    Yep - both G3 and G4. Can't speak to G2, though.

    Sennheiser Rebate / 300 vs 500 series?

Another difference is that the 3/500 series receivers have "tighter" frontend filters - that is the technical reason they're listed as supporting higher simultaneous system counts. That said, in my experience you can usually still use more than double the max count listed for the 100 series if...

Microphones How much rehearsal time do you get as an SE for a musical?

I generally get between 2-5 scheduled full sound runs for most shows. I actually get around 1-3 typically.Having had a few shows in the last year where I wasn't seeing the full run until 1 or 2 days before opening, I've started multitrack recording rehearsals to practice with later. The CL5 is...

    Microphones Sennheiser MKE2 History

After watching the new Bohemian Rhapsody movie I was curious about the setup for Live Aid and came across this old copy of Study Sound, circa December 1985, which had a good bit of info on the Hill sound systems used. However, it also included an article related to Starlight Express and it...

    Passive Sub Amp Setup

In general it shouldn't make a big difference, but at the risk of over-generalizing, what type of amp/speakers are you running? Most modern amps are fairly robust and tolerant about how their loaded, QSC even has something called "FAST" which allows for flexible power routing to outputs as needed.

Assisted Listening Systems: What do you use?

Seconded for the Williams PPA T45. Most of the new venues around us are spec'ing them and have been satisfied by their performance.

    Wireless Sennheiser EV100 G3 945

I usually set the transmitter (handheld) gain/sensitivity as high as possible - ideally you want to be metering just below AF PEAK on the receiver during your loudest content (scrolling down/hitting the down arrow will put the receiver into "Soundcheck" mode, which holds peak values...
