Should I pull the trigger on an M7?

I have an M7 that has been my primary board until last year (A&H dLive S5000 replaced it). Remember, Yamaha lifetimes the M7 in 2024 and there will no longer be support from the manufacturer for parts.

Bome Box for A&H dLive S5000

I'm using a Bome Box to get MIDI control out of my dLive S5000. This is for Qlab to get MIDI triggers from the board. I'm running Qlab on a Mac Mini High Sierra setup.About 50% of the time on system boot, the Mac doesn't see the Bome Box signals. I can see the MIDI lights on my MIDI...

    ETC Selador VIVID/R Refurbs?

I have about 20 VIVID/R's in my rig. Ten of them are getting to be pretty old, and I can definitely tell a difference in their color output. Does ETC or anyone else refurb the LED's vs having to straight out purchase replacement instruments?

Having to rethink Qlab show control with new Audio Rig.

Yeah. It looks like through the DAW controller, I can do MIDI over TCP/IP. Digging around I'm finding the solution.

Having to rethink Qlab show control with new Audio Rig.

We are undergoing a significant system upgrade in our facility, and I'm migrating from a Yamaha M7CL to a dLive S5000. I'm going through the dLive specs, and noticed the S5000 doesn't have MIDI in & out on the back. For years I've used MIDI to trigger Qlab by advancing Scenes. What's the...

M7 MIDI Program Change vs. Other Protocols

The show is "Willy Wonka" and students have programmed it. It's using a pre-recorded score, with 55 tracks. Adding in sound FX goes, and paging for DCA reassignments we are at approximately 144 cues in the show. If I were programming it, it would be less. 144 cues takes me over the 128 limit...

M7 MIDI Program Change vs. Other Protocols

I'm firing Qlab from my Yamaha M7 using MIDI Program Change values. For the 1st time I hit the 128 cue limit with Program Change Value. (We have to split the show into Act 1 and Act 2 files now, but mic check has to be tracked very carefully to be tweaked during intermission.)Is there a...

    Fusible Link Lifespan

Digging through the archive here, I'm seeing discussions that fusible links in fire curtain systems should be replaced every 3-5 years. Is that still (or even is) the consensus on this issue? I have a PMI coming up.

    Orchestra Shell Instrument Refit Suggestions

I'm not in a place where I trust Wireless DMX yet. For devices that are 100% show reliant, I want a cable send.

That's what I've been doing as a roll in LUSTR+'s and more VIVID's into the space.

I hadn't started to dig through photometrics yet. This is a huge help, Bill. Thanks!

    Orchestra Shell Instrument Refit Suggestions

Thanks Bill. Low end dimming isn't an issue for this install. I'm seeing Rox Boxs as low as $295 though...

    Orchestra Shell Instrument Refit Suggestions

Our Orchestra Shell has 15 Future Light FL1000's built in. I'm looking at retrofitting an LED solution. Anyone have any experience with this? The opening is 10 5/8" x 13 1/2", and is 5 1/4" deep. I was thinking something along the line of Blizzard Roxbox. I need a fairly inexpensive LED...
