We have an old ETC Insight that the floppy disk drive started doing that to us. We just took a floppy disk out of an old computer we have in storage and swapped it out. Not sure what changes were made between the Insight and the Express, but I would assume the same could be done.

You might try gluing the fabric to some scrap pieces of 1/4" luann or other sheet goods. Then screw the luann down to the top of the platform. This way you aren't ruining the decking on a perfectly good platform if the old fabric does shred when you try to pull it off.

You might try Stagelight. About a week ago they were doing a "garage sale." All the used inventory was first come first serve and they had limited inventory, but it might be worth a shot.
