  1. gate

    1. Lighting. The area of an ERS where shutters, gobos, and irises are placed, as it is just behind the second focus of the ellipsoid. (The first focus is the lamp filament.) Most ERSs have a gate diameter of 3".
  2. Beam Projector

A nearly obsolete type of lighting fixture having no lens and a parabolic reflector, producing near-parallel light rays. Most common sizes are 10", 16", and 24", with lamps ranging from 500W-2000W. Most were line voltage fi...

    End of the Leko

I'm looking forward to using the Philips Selecon SPX. The perfect complement to my Uni-Pars and ENR dimmers. Metal is sooo over rated. As Dustin Hoffman was told in 1967: "One word--PLASTICS."

    Multiple Projectors

No way around it, you need something that supports edge blending. You MUST send separate, different signals to each projector. The Axon Media Server - Digital Lighting - Products - High End Systems features Collage Generator™.

    Constructing a temporary stage deck

Depending on time of year and climate, any sheet goods you lay should have spacers (dimes, pennies, or nickels on edge) or the sheet goods may buckle. I've never seen Marley telegraph a gap smaller than 1/8" to the surface. If building a deck of 3/4" ply covered with 1/4" MDF, Plyron, Duron...

Automated Fixtures Powering moving lights through a dimmer

All this discussion of chokes has me concerned. I regularly power MLs and other devices with a CD80 dimmer module that has the SSR but not the choke electrically bypassed. It's an easy mod with a CD80, but near impossible with a Sensor dimmer. Can leaving the choke in the circuit can issues?

    Need basic lighting tips

Briefly, divide the stage into chunks or "areas" 8'-12' in diameter. On a typical stage this might translate to 5 areas accross and 3 areas deep. Next assign each area a letter. Thus, A-E are downstage, F,G,H,I,J are midstage, and K-O are upstage. Now if strictly following McCandless, each...

    Audience Lighting (not house)

I'll be sure to mention this to the next top concert LD I see using scrollers on 8-lights. Van Halen, AC/DC, and Aerosmith come immediately to mind.:)

    Riding an A-Frame Extension Ladder

Some foam or even carpet scraps taped around the top rung helps comfort immensely.;) Use a fireman's leg lock, but be aware this violates OSHA's "three points of contact" rule. I wouldn't go up unless I knew and trusted the two (at least) ground ladder crew.Werner-Ladders.com - 16&rsquo...
