Lighting Ugrade: Go all in on LEDs or add dimmer circuits?

@RonHebbard - Agreed. The intensity equivalence is actually explained a lot better in the link. The lamp actually had to be made different to produce the same brightness. And some additional info in the original brochure about what's actually happening with the voltage inside the rack...

Lighting Ugrade: Go all in on LEDs or add dimmer circuits?

To reiterate what others said. Dimmer Doubling only works on ETC Racks. While it is less popular these days, I know of many sites still running dimmer doubling and it's actually very popular on Broadway still. Dimmer Doubling is one of my favorite magic/physics tricks ever. For those that...

    LED RGB downlights Ethernet

While the F-Drive or Navis fixtures may not be high output for your main audience light in a theatre setting I could see them used for, Low Lobby Ceilings, Under Balcony Lights, Last Row of Seats in the Balcony or Back of House Hallways could be a great use. Imagine a Navis RGBW hallway light...

    LED RGB downlights Ethernet

Correct Bill - the ETC F-Drive is not using PoE or PoE+. While PoE's is starting to provide more watts, it's not enough to be useful as you'od be doing only 1 or 2 fixtures per home run Ethernet line and get any sort of usable lumen output.

    LED RGB downlights Ethernet

If you have to steal all of the twisted pairs on a Cat6 cable, to basically get enough copper AWG to run low voltage power you can't run an ethernet protocol layerd on top of it.

    LED RGB downlights Ethernet

What you're probably going to find is you won't get sACN, DMX or Art-Net on the Ethernet line if you are also trying to power the fixtures on the same cable. Basically you have to steal a lot of the twisted pairs to get enough copper to power the fixture. What you'll see is that the sACN, DMX...

    LED RGB downlights Ethernet

Just for fun for anyone following this thread. I agree the Ethernet in the ceiling is likely DMX over Cat5 cable. That being said there are some really cool new technologies coming out to run LED fixtures over Network cable. Basically Low Voltage power and signal over a single Cat6 cable from...

Long throw LED fixture with Fan control channel

Your output is actually very similar on a 14 degree ERS Series 2 Lustr and a D60. And the D60 is less, and technically is a narrow beam. And remember this is only in open white, as soon as you do colored side light, you are not going to need as much punch as LED Additive Color Mixing vs Par64...

Long throw LED fixture with Fan control channel

@rwhealey At 55-70' I don't think the 150w model color changing version is going to have enough output/punch and footcandles to be useful at all. Having to us a 5 degree seems impractical to hang a 5 degree lens from a sidelight position on a pipe.

Long throw LED fixture with Fan control channel

Michael while the S4WRD is very quiet glad you think there is no fan, there actually is a small fan that is always on. This is so it creates a standard noise floor so you don't hear it ramp up/down. It's actually at like 28 or 29db if I recall which is basically right at standard HVAC...

How to exclude channels on Element 2

Hey Massey, As Scott T mentioned later in this thread doing an Exclude on a Submaster with your House Lights in it is the best option. Especially with an Element 2 and 40 faders. The nice option is the Submaster being up is what's causing the house lights to be excluded from being recorded...

How to exclude channels on Element 2

I second Scott's answer. Everyone else's input is very valid, but this is the most elegant answer to the question in my opinion.

    PowerCON vs. PowerCON TRUE1?

Correct. However they have come out with a new True1 (The all black version) that has fixed this issue.
