It sounds like what they need is a 2D version of your parts. I draft in Autocad but I'm sure there is a way to "trace" 2D objects off your 3D model in VW. My experience has been the simpler the object the easier it is for the CNC guys to cut. I stick with 2D polylines when I can.
Like many of you on here I learned not to buy imported rigging hardware. The main reasons I was given was because, for liability reasons, imported hardware is hard to track back to the actual manufacturer (thus making technical data hard to find) and that products made outside the U.S. are not...
Oddly I don't have to offset the pulleys because we operate our flys from upstage (we also don't have any wing space). But yes single pulleys for loft blocks. For a head block I also use single pulleys. I just put them close together. I wish I could use a real head block or even a double pulley...
Thank you for this info and words of caution. Has anyone compiled a data base/archive on incidents like these? Specifically failures in technical equipment or operation that resulted in injury or death. I feel like that would be a powerful tool to get the artsy people (directors, designers etc.)...
Of course! In short, it's a slang term I use for spot rigging. The theater I work for doesn't have a fly system. Over stage we have a catwalk system that gives us access to high steel left over from a pipe grid system we had before we got catwalks. This high steel is what we rig from. If we ever...
Thanks for those links! The brass pilot bits are exactly what I am looking for!For those of you wondering why, like josh88 mentioned, we are putting a chamfer on a swirly design that will be cut out of 1/2" MDF. The design is such that a standard size bearing won't even get close to some of...
I recently found several of these bearing-less router bits in my shop. Long story short (bizarre designer request) I am looking to buy more. And there is my problem. I cannot find them anywhere. I don't even really know if they are called bearing-less router bits. Does anyone have any...
Lot's of good points above but there is one point that I haven't heard yet. Hand drafting gives you a basis in geometry that can be applied to more than just design. As a TD and carpenter I use techniques I learned in my hand drafting course frequently. It has helped me when building...
Hey Friends,Recently I had an issue with one of my flying rigs that caused my cable to deform. After talking to my rigging supplier and some local pros (that have been doing this a lot longer than me) we concluded that it was due to my sheave diameter being too small. I was using 2" diameter...
