    Re-opening Procedure after Covid-19

Following this discussion it seems like venues need to have a medical staff, testing laboratory, quarantine and medical care rooms onsite. Strange times indeed. I jest of course, but is it really coming to venues having to medically screen patrons?

    Re-opening Procedure after Covid-19

Socially distancing audiences presents some creative possibilities for problem solving. However, what about casts and crew? A solo show or an orchestra where people pretty much stay in the same spot for the duration is one thing but a play or musical with a cast of 10, 20 or more? How does one...

Can the actor behind a scrim see through it ??

When we used a scrim on stage, when front lit, the actors could not see anything but the scrim in front of their nose. I suppose one could play with lighting angles to find a way to change that.

half sphere build for Little Prince

Doing Little Prince. I need planets. I'd like to use a technique I have seen in many productions on-line. It consists of a half sphere, flat side down, decorated and painted to look like a planet. Actors can walk up on top of it. Looking and about 2.5-3.5 feet in diameter. Any ideas how to...

High School does Alien as a play

Our community theater takes copyright issues very seriously, partly because that is the law. And partly because that is right thing to do. Whether a copyright holder is making millions or pennies, ownership is ownership. All the adults and children in our group know the value of an artistic...

Where to get cheap royalty-free sound fx?

How to make a laboratory stand out?

A little dry ice in a flask of water, maybe a few in different colors is always a good "Mad science" prop.

    Grants for new sound/light equipment

Thanks all; this is helpful. I am planning to approach ETC for their equipment grant this year. In Minnesota we have great support for the arts through a small sales tax. Literally 10's of millions of dollars are given out to arts and culture programs every year and we have received generous...
