When you replaced the lamps did you reset the lamp counter on the fixture? I know some Mac 2ks had a safety feature for lamp hours, another thing to try if you're comfortable is to reseat any cables in the base of the fixture as the heat from operating may be loosening enough to drop a connection.

Bring some D rings with plates and a few screws and screw the D rings to the deck and ratchet the rack to the floor. Putting it on its back is going to be difficult to do safely, getting it back up is going to be worse.
