    Comm Headset

So the theatre I work at doesn't have the worlds best headsets and I have gotten tired of using broken headsets (one of our on deck headsets doesn't have an over head piece so you have to hold the speaker and mic to your head). So what I want to know is if anyone knows/ has suggestions for a...

    Strand 300 Show Files

They do multiple show here at once, and they usually just start cueing the new show at the next hundred from where they finished cueing their last show. I know on the Ion you can have multiple show files that you can keep in case you need to go back to them, is there a way to do that for Strand

    Strand 300 Show Files

So i am doing a show on an older strand 300 console, and no one here has any idea if there is a way, or how to create separate show files. I don't know if there is a way and I have never programmed using this board before. Any help would be appreciated. Also is there a way to auto follow cues...

Codes and union rules for Stage Managers

I constantly tell my board and spot ops, that even if they think they are right with what they are doing, never take a go without me or another person who may be calling the show's actually GO. I do alot of shows with schools and things can, and often do change without it ever being communicated...

    Rants of a Lighting Designer

Just a quick update- I got My channel Back I did in fact have a conversation with the stage manager about the situation before the show tonigt, and she agreed with me that I should have my own channel. Me and her approached the director separately and made our cases to him, and him and I had a...

    Rants of a Lighting Designer

So, I am the lighting designer for my schools winter musical. I created a plot with zero ground plans, and never seeing a full run through. I hung and patched the plot, hazers, and patched everything. Heres where the problems started I kick on the hazers for the start of q2q and start having...

    Foggers and Hazers

I am doing a lighting design for A christmas Carol for my school, and i need a decent hazer that will work for a pretty big stage. I need it to be cheap as the budget for this show isnt very big. I also need a good fogger, something that can simulate dry ice foggers, but doesnt need the dry ice...

    Electronic Prompt Book

I do not know if there are any advantages. Which is why i want to attempt it. I have worked with people who have done shows where the cues where entered through a computer. Its something i want to do for a test trial.

    Electronic Prompt Book

I should rephrase the question, i'm using the computer to input the cues into the script and then i'm printing it out. Also, it is a variety jukebox show, so all the lyrics for the songs are available online.

    Electronic Prompt Book

So I'm stage managing a simple school show and I talked it over with the Stage Management teacher and i got her go ahead to try an electronic prompt book. I was wondering what the easiest way to insert cues into the document would be?

What do you do when a director wants to be in the booth?

Thats my favorite kind of director. The invisible one. When a show finishes teching and we go into our tech runs I sit down with the director of the show and tell them "If you need to be in the booth you may, as long as I can't see or hear you. If i feel like you are interrupting my running...

    Coffee On-Stage

So, I'm the PSM for my schools production of Joe Turner's Come and Gone by August Wilson and we have to have the characters drink coffee onstage. The director doesnt want to use actual coffee, so if anyone has any good ideas for a non staining liquid that will represent coffee. I think we should...
