Ditto to everything that Ron said about silhouette/back lighting.I've done Shrek a couple of times and when working on a lower budget and trying to maximize value for where to put instruments I've found that just having Fiona in a a green gel spotlight can also achieve the effect of making her...
I currently have the Nikon D7100 (which I believe has the same sensor as the D7200) and the low light performance is adequate. The video capabilities on the D7000 series of cameras is worse than just about anything else. I'd go for mirrorless if you want good video. If you're really looking for...
I'd first check with you local lighting rental companies and dealers to see what they have. Otherwise the websites that Jeff mentioned are good options too. Good luck!
Considering the very small number of lights you have I might consider the ETC Colorsource consoles. Haven't personally used them but I hear good things. You could also look at a used Express board if you don't want to spend a fortune. Those use floppies too but can be retrofitted to usb, but...
So I'm renting 2 Martin Mac 700 Profiles for an upcoming show and I was figuring on renting an Element as my control console. However, most of what I'm doing will be fairly simple and I'm wondering if just working with the Express 48/96 we already have would be sufficient.Anybody have any...
Not knowing what kind of show you're doing, I might look at the Element if it's available. Has many of the features of the Ion while being less expensive. In my mind, the Colorsource 20 is just too limited with only 40 control channels. I'm not sure about cues tracking, though.
I think what I'm going to do is cheeseboro a vertical pipe to the two pipes of the catwalk (see Steve's diagram) and then mount the fixture vertically on that pipe. As has been said, less than ideal, but I think it will work just fine for what I'm doing.
Thanks for the link to that other thread - answers pretty much all of my questions :)I figured that the strongest option would be to run pipe all the way across, but if I could mount the fixture vertically, then I think that would work as well. Thanks, everybody!
Wow, thanks for all the input! I've attached a dimensioned diagram. The span is 11' and the Martin MAC 700 Profile weighs 76lbs.I've looked at the space and I don't have access to any roof steel or structure above the hanging point, so hoisting the fixture into position isn't an option. I may...
So I'm doing a show in a couple months and I'm trying to come up with a good way to hang 2 Martin Mac 700 Profiles. We have 3 catwalks above the house (see attached diagram for more detail). My plan is to hang the fixtures between the 1st and 2nd catwalk by hanging them on 1.5" Steel Pipe that...
Considering renting some ColorSource Spots for my next show - just a couple questions.1) Is the brightness comparable to that of a 750?
2) Do they strobe?
This may be a dumb question but I'm wondering if there is any strobe comparable to the Martin atomic 3000 that uses stage pins instead of DMX?The space I'm working in means to get strobes where I'd need them I'd have to use radio DMX which I'd rather not do, but I'm not aware of any nonDMX...
Hi: I'm relatively new to all this DMX stuff and I was hoping to get some help on a set-up I was planning. We have an ETC Express 48/96 that will be doing all the DMX control.
We are hanging two I-Cue systems with a DMX Iris in each (on a S4). We will also have 8 color scrollers on some...
