    Modern lighting paperwork software recommendations

When Lightwright is referring to seats, they mean how many users/computers will be using the program at once. You only really need one seat. You could probably build a template for your lighting paperwork out of a lightweight relational DB like air table, which is free last I checked, but...

    Roostering

Sweet, sweet hyper local jargon. I am more familiar with "yoke out" or "yoked out", which I think is a little less slangy, and a least mentions a part of the fixture.

    Replacing borders with no fullness?

in my experience working and touring professionally, flat drapes are by far preferred. I have never had a professional company ask for fullness. It tends to catch light rather than lessen it. It takes up more floor space; if scenery is flying or tracking on and off stage there is more of a...

    ColorSource SPOT

How are the fixtures being powered? It is my understanding that Dimmable circuits (even parked at full power can have adverse effects on LEDs).

No more GrandMasters on ETC consoles

This might be a little unpopular but the Blackout and GM have always seemed to be such heavy-handed ways to do that. If I need to dark in a panic, theres always [select active][out] or [selective active] @ 0 [Sneak]. But if we are talking faders, the manual time fader is my favorite thing these...

    EOS Effect Question

What type of lights are you using, Moving, LED, conventional? It also seems like you're concerned about precision. If they move, are LED, or you want precise control, I think an "Absolute" effect is what you might want here. It's like a step-based effect but slightly different. It will allow you...

Does this theatre need a new console?

I toured for several years. Showing up at a venue with an out of date console is not a deal-breaker, but is pretty annoying, and occasionally requires an on the spot update, which can be time-consuming.

    Need a Vectorworks Guru

Greg Hillmar's book Light Plot Deconstructed is a great book. It will walk you through a lot of stuff and outlines a workflow really well. The version I have is somewhat out of date but I found it applied to the working in VW2016 and forward.

    transporting chandeliers

I have used wardrobe racks in a similar manner. Very cheap to buy or build and you can probably modify it easily to accommodate more than one at a time.

    LED Ground Row

I am using the Colorforce 72s right now, and I have to say, they are wonderful! Great dimming curves. and ton of punch. I've been working with them for a year now on a 25' to 28' tall (depending). I use the as border lights at times, and get a great stage wash out of them, too. My only...

AA Battery Upgrade, Do you recharge?

Another vote for the eneloop batteries. High capacity, and long service life are the main reasons.

House Lights for a Classical Performance

Sounds about right. I usually include a House to half after intermission. But other wise the same.

    Automated Fixtures Autoyoke problems

Regarding the Iris issue. Can you access the fixture to check for error messages? Have you tried controlling the Iris directly from its DMX address? Have you tried recalibrating the iris Via the control channel for the fixture? The manual has some trouble shooting tips.

What would you call this style fixture?

"Footlight" is a purpose. I can plop a birdie on the ground, or a leko on a foot plate, or a striplight, all or any of them would then be a "footlight", and you could refer to them by that purpose. A striplight in the air or on the ground is a striplight.
