    Control/Dimming Stage Pin to DMX

^^^ This. We use some of those Leviton's and they're pretty reliable but you don't want to exceed power limitations. You can configure the newer ones to double-up i.e. two channels/unit if you want to use a higher output lamp but then you need to change the input cord to 20A or hardwire. I...

    Yellow brick road design

We did the show in a small theater 5-6 years ago and simply painted a yellow brick road on some ramboard which led to a set of stairs descending towards the audience. Our Dorothy danced around the hall when singing "follow the yellow brick road" and it was perfect. Don't overthink it!

    Scenery Wheel Locks

It seems to me that 7' isn't very high at all and might even be reached from the stage floor. I often use simple 3" hinges with the pin driven out and a bent nail to hook them together. Screw half of each hinge onto adjoining flats and you're done. There's a bit of slop in the system but...

    Ground cloth

We've used ramboard for years to cover the hardwood floor on our little stage. It's been at least 5 years (~25 productions + rehearsals, etc.) and it's still serviceable. It's needed changing for the last 2 years but we just tape the tears and keep using it. It's been painted at least 20...

    [Man Of LaMancha] Descending Stairs

Here's a couple of pictures. BTW, the show is not in rep and the set will remain in place until the end of the run. First is a birds-eye view of the stage from the lighting balcony just to give a sense of the space. This set is for A Christmas Carol (one-man show, an amazing actor plays...

    [Man Of LaMancha] Descending Stairs

UMO? I'm with New Surry Theatre in the Blue Hill area. This is our 40th season. I can't find any good pictures on this computer, I suspect the ones I'm thinking about are on a defunct machine. I'll be in the theater space today and will post something tonight. thanks, Frank

    Revolve plans

I meant to post this earlier but forgot... I built two 10' revolves this past summer (for The Wizard of Oz) using these plans for inspiration. Each revolve had three double-sided 8' tall flats and four of the six flats were constructed so they could also hold some thin skins...

    [Man Of LaMancha] Descending Stairs

Hi Van,Thanks for your reply. Well, we're a community theater in a small town in rural Maine, so re budget, probably several hundred dollars would be available. We're pretty good at adapting and improvising, etc. Wood is always easy to work with (and I'm assuming wood would be the material...

    [Man Of LaMancha] Descending Stairs

Our theater group is getting geared up to do LaMancha next spring and I'm researching descending stairs. We will probably construct a platform with stairs mounted to it that will be hauled up using some type of mechanical winch, then tied-off against the underside of the proscenium...

Control/Dimming Does Anyone Still Use old-style Century Lighting Dimmer Racks?

They're in Downeast Maine - I'll send the link for this thread to my friend so he can monitor. I believe they were from a working system that was upgraded. thanks

Control/Dimming Does Anyone Still Use old-style Century Lighting Dimmer Racks?

A friend has essentially inherited a couple of large Century Lighting dimmer racks with the slide-in "packs" (I don't know the correct name for these) and he's trying to figure out how to disposition them. There are various size packs ex. Model 203 (3.0KW), Model 211 (10 KW), Model 206 (6 KW)...
