Due to a number of reasons, the sound board is very close to the audience.

    Control/Dimming Zero 88's New Console

I'll have you know it's a WELSH lighting company! It's based in Cwmbran, which isn't far from me. It's great knowing that if our Frog ever dies, we can take it straight to the manufacturer!

    Stage Management 101

Hi all, Long time, no post! We have our annual school production coming up. A lot of the schools staffing has changed since last year, so peoples roles in this production are going to be different. We have two overall directors who cooperate (to a workable extent). We have someone (new)...

How do I get rid of about 30 untrained people?

Had a similar experience but with about five people. Gave them a lot of laborious jobs and they soon left. We normally use a trolley to transport equipment from one side of the school complex to the other. It mysteriously went missing that week

Wireless What Wireless Do You Use?

6x Shure UR4D 2x Shure UA870 Directional Antennae 12x Shure UR1 Bodpacks (I -think-, based on the pictures from the Shure website). Works pretty well, we've had no interference on these, and the ability to network them and monitor everything on a computer is really handy. Especially the...

    Greatest Sound Check Song

Battle Without Honor or Humanity - Tomoyasu HoteiPretty good for testing. Make sure you get a decent copy though, especially if you're getting it from the web. 128k MP3s simply don't cut it. I'd recommend FLAC.

    Projecting onto a Curtain

Hello ControlBooth! Long time no see!In our school we've got a fixed projector projecting about 60feet onto a motorised screen on the stage. The screen is -just- behind the curtain, and yesterday someone shut the curtain with the projector still on and I got an idea.We have an upcoming...

    DMX Help

Thanks, got it totally now, will read through the Frog manual tonight. It's total overkill for what we use it for, we don't have any moving lights, we essentially just use it to put 48 bog standard lights on, and off. :P Thanks all.

    DMX Help

Hey there :) Having never actually set up a dimmer before, just operated one, I'm a bit stuck. Some smart-ass has changed all the DMX address settings, and I haven't a clue how to set them. I've also posted this on the Zero88 support forums, but they're about as inactive as my umbilical...

    Hi there!

Heh you lost me there when you started talking about monarchy :)Shamefully, I'm not sure exactly what equiptment we have at the moment, so I'll be sure to make a list next time I get five minutes. We're again quite lucky in that this year, we get to buy the 'cool' stuff, because over the past...

    Hi there!

Hey :)I'm Gav, and unlike the majority on this forum, I'm from the UK. I'm part of a small team who do sound/lighting/"anything else that needs doing" for my school. We're quite fortunate in that we tend to be allocated quite a large budget (for a school) (£1000 small events, £4000+ for big...
