I've been interested in technical theatre since 11th grade, when I ran lights for my high school's musical (the first in 40 years), since I don't sing. I essentially designed with about 50 lights that were rusted in place using a Strand MX atop 2 Strand CD80 dimmer packs positioned off stage left, about 30 feet from the 3 rotary house dimmers. My senior year, the theatre program fell apart, despite our best efforts to hold it together, but I still decided to pursue theatre in college along side computer engineering.
After seeing the great engineering department the year before and putting Bucknell in my top 2, I met soundlight and Bucknell's technical director/lighting designer/sound designer, I knew it was the place for me. I worked on almost all the productions my freshmen year, a few less my sophomore year, and am still deciding how much I can handle for my junior year.
I currently work as a TA in the BU Theatre Department scene shop (carpentry/electrics/sound), as a TA at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts (at Bucknell), and as the Tech Manager at Uptown: Bucknell's Nightclub.
