600's can be pretty loud... we hang them up 75ish feet so you cant really hear them during an event... definitely not a hockey game lol. we also have 4 mac 500's which are really awesome... If they are fixed up they can be so bitchen. here a video timelapse of an event we just had
The place i work at has 18 mac 600's... they are pretty bitchen... they bought them back when they were brand new 10ish years ago... the most common problem i have seen with them is their shutter doesn't always want to work.
Here's a question. Will an employer care more about the piece of paper from college or your references from past employers. For instance im planning on using the arena i work at now as a reference (as an asst. production manager)... with employers seeing this... is it even worth getting a degree?

Here is your issue, with Showexpress you can only use there USB to DMX adapters. So you'll have to purchase there hardware for it to work, i would suggest download Freestyler it works pretty well, and im sure your adapter will work with it unlike showexpress
I say if there interested let them go for it, it's very rare to find people young that are into technical theater. im a junior in high school, i started doing light design my freshman year. and already i work at a performing art's center working load in's/outs and at a arena doing production...
i think chavet show express would be what you want. it's really simple. and it has a free app called LIVEMOBILE. you would have to get the USB to DMX adapter for it though.
Well in my booth, i have a waffle maker, microwave and a cooler... And were at a high school... It's only me in the booth usually, But if im training somebody during a run of a show, i dont usually care. People who work in the booth usually are smart enough not spill or leave crumb's all over...
