I've used Multiplay before - http://www.da-share.com/software/multiplay/ - It's windows based, so I don't know if it's an option - but it can do sound and basic video playback. Not as good as QLab, but it is free and I've never had any issues with it

I haven't taken it apart - only the plug to PAT test it!I can't think how it could have switched by itself, but am sure that it hasn't done it in the past. I may be wrong, but as I have always used them in pairs, I'm 99% sure I would have noticed.

I think it has worked correctly in the past. I use them for discos, and have always put them in pairs under scrims, so would have noticed if it wasn't working.
